Thunderous Love

Rain streaked the windowpane and coursed down the glass in a zigzag pattern that intrigued the watcher into lifting her finger and tracing it with the tip of her index finger. She loved the rain…every powerful crash of lightening and every thunderous roar made her eyes gleam and her pulse race. At last, she flung the window open and welcomed the wet, cooling air and the moist droplets on her face.

So lost in her own private enjoyment of the storm, she failed to realize the onyx-eyed silhouetted figure in the doorway to her room. "Until one day the rain fell as thick as black oil. And in her heart, she knew something was wrong," she sang, closing her eyes and tipping her head away from the icy droplets. He listened with slight awe, as she continued her eerie, broken singing.

She hadn't heard him cross the room, hadn't heard him enter the house. She turned, a silent scream in her throat, only to face the man she loved. "You scared me," she stated softly, reaching up and brushing a strand of hair out of her face.

Emotions quaked inside of him, and he found he did not know quite what to say. He wanted to whisper to her the words of love he often thought, to take her in his arms and kiss her as he had often fantasized, to be allowed to enter the strange and silent world she so often retreated into. His lips parted slightly and his dark eyes searched her face diligently, for something he did not know he was looking for.

Her heartbeat and pulse accelerated with his and together their breathing quickened to harsh ragged gasps as the heat between them radiated and the passion that lay hidden in their veins blazed with sudden and impatient fury. She tipped her chin slightly up at the same moment as a bolt of lightening struck and lit up the whole room in an eerie, yellow glow. At that moment, their mutual need and love shone and they found they did not need words to express it as they embraced each other with a crushing force.

His lips traveled along her hair and down across her face until he reached her lips that trembled with anticipation. Their lips met in a hesitant, gentle kiss at first that deepened and became harsher as their hands wound in each other's hair and their passion made itself known.

"I love you, I love you," she murmured in a joyful, yet tearful whisper as they sank to the ground, their lips meeting again and again. "I love you so much."

His throat tightened and he whispered back, trailing his lip up and down her neck, "I love you. I love you more than I can tell you…"

As his arms tightened around her, she slipped beneath him and onto the hard wood floor. "I love you, I love you," they murmured incessantly to each other, tearing at each other's clothes, eager to bring themselves together as close as intimately and humanly possible. Tears of love and passion streamed down their cheeks as their lovemaking came to the highest, purest point of love and they fell to the ground, their breathing uneven and fitful. "I love you," she whispered again, laughing in spite of herself and the situation.

"I love you," he smiled back, kissing her gently. As the final bit of thunder drained away, so did the final bit of their strength and wrapped in each other's arms they fell asleep.
