Dear Howard, et al,
In your previous E-mail regarding Dr. Yuan-Che Lee, the Nobel Laureate in
Chemistry, I would like to make some additional statements of "episode"
regarding this noted Nobel Laureate. However, some of them, I have to admit
that are based on hearsay.
Dr. Lee, as you mentioned earlier, was a graduate student at Tsing-Hua
Graduate School in Hsin-Chu, Taiwan. Lthough I was a graduate student at the
same Tsing-Hua Graduate School, I didn't know him at all. This until in 1980,
when I was at Univ. of Toronto ( I earned my Ph.D in Physics here on "positiron
annihliation in atomic collisions " ), one of my postdctoral colleagues, Dr. Pai,
who was the same period class of Dr. Lee. Dr. Pai mentioned to me that he and
Dr. Lee stayed in the same dormitory. According to Dr. Pai, Dr. Lee took up a
lot of physics quantum courses while he was at Tsing-Hua graduate School. ...
One day, Dr. Lee made some complains about his supervisor at Berkeley that his
supervisor didn't help him much, rending him to do everything by himself.
However, later, according to Dr. Lee's testimony, this style actually helped
him build up his self training in resaerch. ... In addition, in one remark
recalled by Dr. Lee, when he was at Berkeley, Calif, in his earlier days, he
was kind of being leaving alone. That he didn't participate much social
activities (among Chinese circles). However, according to Dr. Lee, this
turned out his benefit to save much time to focus his resaerch... When Dr. Lee
was granted Nobel Prize in the speed of chemical reaction within molecules, he
admitted that his idea comes from his substantial knowledge of physics quantum
mechanics, that he applied it to chemistry domain. After achieving the Nobel
Prize, there many people requesting for talks, he virtually declined/rejected
all the invitations, or flatlly neglected and thus he offended a lot people....
He decided to surrender his US Citizenship and went back to Taiwan. In
Taiwan, he enjoys almost everything he wanted, ... Russian language, martial
art coach, political advisor,... up to daily life consulations... One day, in
Taiwan, Mr. Oau Lee critized him that "He didn't practice what he is supposed
to do as Scientist,... implying interfere inappropriate on politics."
These statements are prtty "spotty", and you (Howard) may edit all the ones
I did before your transcript of the autobiography of Dr. Lee.

I read it, and only two paragraph have the essential pointss, I think. These two:
