*horses don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care*

~~ Picture's coming soon ~~

Rowan is a new member of our family. We bought him from one of my mum's friends as they were moving. They had not had him very long and saved him from the sales along with 2 other horses. We do not know much about him, all we know is he is an Arab x. We were told he used to be ridden by kids. We think he may of had a rough life before mum's friend brought him as he is very jumpy around people.

We have worked with him a lot since we have brought him.  He has improved massively since we have had him. He gets better everyday. Though he still needs lots of work.

We are back from the QSSC. and boy did we have a great time. Ronnie the instructor was amazing. You can read all about it on the home page but here is a little of how Rowan did at the lessons.

Well Rowan did really well. Nathan completed all of level one ground skills with him and the start of the riding. We were really impressed with how well Nathan did with the ground skills. He even had the rest of the students clapping for him with some tasks. It was great. Nathan even managed to ride him bare back for a little while in our practice time which I thought was amazing as Rowan was such a jumpy and nervous horse. So I guess that explains just how well Nathan really did at the lessons.

Rowan was doing really well except for an incident that happened on the last day. Nathan was driving him through a gate and Rowan wasn't sure about going through without Nathan leading so instead he squeezed between Nathan and the gate and partially quartered his hoof. So now Rowan is on a spell until this heals up. Once all is healed we will begin working with him once more.

I think that once Rowan discovers humans are not hear to harm him and we gain his trust his true colours will really show and he will turn out to be a great horse. Even though he is resting in a paddock at the moment he is still improving. We go out and spend time with him everyday just hanging out and he loves it. As soon as he sees us coming he comes to greet us at the gate. Its amazing how much he has turned around.

Check back for when we begin work with Rowan again.
