Issued : 1848 Watermark : Small Crown Perforation : Trial Perforations 11.5 Roulette by Henry Archer 16 by Henry Archer 14 and 16 by the Government Number Issued : Henry Archer apparently experimented with around 5000 sheets (1,200,000 stamps) with his perforating machine between 1848 and 1850, most of which were destroyed because of imperfections. A similar quantity was used by the Government in 1853 whilst making trial perforations (gauge 14 and 16) on the Napier Machine.
