I: Call to order, 4:01pm
-Officers in attendence:
-President
-Treasurer
-Secretary
-Members in attendance:
-Joe Cicero
-Michelle Bimson
-Jaime Scaringi
-Kelly Hemple
-Carl Metzler
II: Reports
-President's Report:
this weeks flier got a few negative responses to the Deans office.
(Evidently there are
more communists on this campus than first anticipated.)
-also, we have our office! It's llocated directly across from the
Environmental Law Clinic (within striking
distance). "Jimmers" beware. Anyone wanting to use the office
(for any---dignified---activities) should
talk to the President, he has the key (but he probably won't answer to
"Zuul").
-Vice President's Report:
see minutes for last week. (on a side note, it was set out today that if
the VP isn't
at the next meeting, impeachment proceedings are a distinct possibility)
-Secretary's Report:
A thousand pardons---I failed to get the minutes out last week. In
other news, the
Shannon Reeves press releases are nearly complete! And the flier
created a stir this week...Some think
just getting it approved was worthy of recognition of greatness.
-Treasurer's Report: Presented
in Haiku, the Treasurer adeptly put forth that things are pretty much like
last week. Soon we should be able to draw checks on our account,
and have money for the little
reception following the Reeves lecture.
III: Old Business
-Shannon Reeves update:
See Secretary's Report above. The week following spring break will
commence
the media blitz, including fliers, press releases and general havoc among
the liberal population.
-Our representatives to
the Brandywine Republican Women's Association gave report on progress made
on
that front to publicize the Reeves lecture. In sum, Ron had to wear
a cowboy hat and they got to eat
cake.
-Members volunteered to
speak to our respective sections re: the Reeves lecture the day before
the lecture
which Ron soon learned by a boisterous outcry was a Sunday. Therefore
and hereinafter, the announ-
cements shall be made the day of the lecture.
-Larry Craig Resolution:
after a stirring rendition of the Resolution by the ever-talented Mr. T.,
the Caucus
voted unanimously to approve pass endorse and accept the Resolution (as
it is!). Truly a great moment
in Widener history.
-T-Shirts: Mr. T.
needs your money if you ordered a shirt, and he needs it ASAP. If
you didn't order a shirt,
do so! I drew the design and it's bitchin', if I do say so myself.
Everyone should see the Republican
Hammer of Justice (perhaps spray painted next to "Wolverines" somewhere
on campus soon?).
-YAF Conferences:
The one in March is FREE (magic words to conservatives) and is on March
30-31.
Anyone interested in going should contact Ron, soon! There is another
conference in the summer,
more info to follow. See Ron for details.
IV: New Business
-Meeting Times: due to the
hardship certain people have expressed regarding the meeting times, it
was
proposed that every other week the meetings be pushed back to 5pm to accomodate
people who want
to join us but can't because of late classes.
-Compassionate Conservative
Committee: The Ronald McDonald Haus event is still scheduled---a few new
recruits were signed up, meeting the quota established and written in stone
by the Ronald McDonald
Haus people.
V: Open Forum
-this degenerated into heated
discussion about the fliers put out this week and after a few minutes,
the
debate slowly ground
to a halt.
-General info was discussed
regarding the upcoming conference of YAF, planned in March. Perhaps
a
group from the Caucus
will attend. Hotel expenses seem to be the only fees involved, as
travel costs
(outside 50 miles)
should be reimbursed through Widener.
VI: Meeting Adjourned, 4:31pm
Have a great spring break everyone!
Mr. Secretary
