Aldasarre groaned as he listened to Oro he's heard this time and time again from the elder healer, it got old. But he wasn't about to walk away, Oro though old and bit off the deep end still knew things that he'd not learn anywhere else. He absently took notes as the old healer babbled on no specific topic of dragon healing in particular, Oro did this a times but it was worth putting up with he'd learned invaluable information from Oro and grown quite fond of the old weyrhealer. Aldasarre drummed his fingers on the table and noticed a little brown clawed hand at the edge of the table slowly trying to grab his lunch a large strip of jerky.

"Sanger get your own food," Aldasarre rolled his eyes and moved the jerky away from the sneaky brown firelizard. After Sanger realized the jerky was out of his reach he crawled up on the table and did his best to look cute. Alasarre couldn’t help but snicker his brothers firelizard was so strange, he’d put money on it that his brother F’nar had taught the firelizard to harass him since he was always out on search. As he studied the firelizard he realized it had a message tired to his leg, this was unusual. He carefully untied the message and unrolled it carefully wondering what could be going on.

Aldasarre a search rider from Seiryuu Weyr is arriving around mid day, I know you stood for many clutches before but I think this one is different, please try not to miss him. His name is Ar’wen it’s hard to miss him, or more his dragon who has stripes painted all over him and he’s huge.

~F’nar

Alasarre couldn’t help but gawk at the parchment in surprise, he’d give up long ago, and decided if he was going to continue living on in the Weyr he’d have a useful craft. But to stand again on the hatching sands he was skeptical, with good reason. As a boy he’d had dragonet after dragonet pass him by. Though he held nothing against them or their bonded, but it still hurt being passed up. Especially over and over again since he’d been 14 turns old, it was always the next clutch. But at the next clutch he’d walk away feeling empty, alone and unwanted and unfit to stand, his family always tried to support him saying they where sure he’d impress at the next clutch. He’d even had Ulleseth his brothers blue tell him something must be wrong with the dragonets because he was more then fit to ride a dragon.

He drummed his fingers in thought unsure if he should try once more, there had been so many ‘I’ll stand again just once more’ in the past. He also wondered if he could stand rejection again, and walk away empty handed. His concentration was broken by a loud snore and realized Oro had nodded off, gathering his things and offering his arm to Sanger who’d curled up on the table and had gotten his little hand on his jerk and was currently gnawing on it. He picked up a blanket, covering Oro before he left the weyrhealers room to think on the letter he received from his brother.

When Aldasarre reach the lower caverns he realized it was past Midday meal few people where at the table that where being cleared he realized he'd most likely missed the pair that he'd come to pick him up. Grabbing a small roll of bread along with a piece of jerky to replace the one Sanger had stolen, and drooled all over. He started out toward the lake in the weyrbowl, knowing if the pair where still around they'd most likely be there. Part of him hopped they'd be there and another wished he'd missed them altogether, he still found himself torn between going to stand or simply not bothering at all.

Ar'wen watch his dragon lounge in the sun appearing to not have a care in the world and as much as he loved his bond his laxness in this all irritated him. They'd been here since before midday meal and he was simply not going to wait around much longer, he'd seen the firelizard leave early this morning with the message the announce that he'd be coming so what was taking so long. He drummed his finger on the table watching the weyrlings along with a few of the older riders of Wu, as they gawk at not only the shear size of Camoth but at they way he’d painted the dark blue striped on his hide. He’d must have had a dozen or more people ask him why he’d painted his dragon, he’d found it all very amusing.

As Aldasarre neared the lake he noticed a large number of people crowded around a blue dragon, and wondered was so special about this blue. The closer he got he realized the immense size was mostly the factor of the crowed the blue must have been the reason it must have been as large as one of the bronzes of Wu, if not larger. Once he’d reached the out skirts of the crowed he noticed the stripes, no wonder they where gawking at the dragon in fascination, he realized this must be the dragon that had come to pick him up. Looking around he spotted a man not far from the dragon sitting at one of the tables around the lake watching the crowed amused with it all and realized this must be Ar’wen the dragons rider.

He hesitantly approached the man hopping he’d not been her long, “Umm excused me are to Ar’wen?”

Ar’wen looked up surprised someone knew his name, “yes I am he, how can I help you?” Ar’wen watched the young man and then recognized the brown firelizard that was trying to hide in the young mans hair, guess it was hiding from him. This must F’nar’s brother the was the firelizard was squirming under his gaze he realized the firelizards must have taken it’s time to deliver the messaged that’d been sent this morning.

“I’m Aldasarre I received a note from my bothers less then an half hour ago, telling me you where to take me to Seiryuu Weyr I’m sorry if you’ve been waiting a longtime.” Ar’wen nodded and smiled as his reply. “I’d been here sooner but I was in a lesson.”

“I guessed that with how that silly brown firelizard is trying to hide from me.” Ar’wen replied, “so how long will it take for you to gather your things?” F’nar had warned him how Aldasarre might try an avoid coming with him altogether because of his past experiences and told him to not let this happen.

“Not very long,” the reply was hesitant, Ar’wen smiled at him and nodded.

“Well how about I come help and then we’ll be off, Meth’s clutch hatch today, tomorrow, anytime really. So it’s best not to dawdle.” Ar’wen said and got up and noticed Camoth was looking at the two of them.

“Ulleseth was right Ar’wen, something must have been wrong with the dragonets to pass this human up.” Camoth told him, Ar’wen smiled well none of he dragonets from Meth’s clutch where bound to have this same issue those before them had he was sure. Ar’wen then followed Aldasarre to help him gather his belongings and then they’d be off to Seiryuu.

----------

He'd been at Seiryuu for about a sevenday when Aldasarre had been offered the firelizards egg, but he'd been surprised when Aisu had given him two of the eggs and not just the normal find. Laying his head on the table he watched the bowl of hot sand, she'd said they where marble firelizards at first he'd wondered what she meant but when he'd seen the strangely marked egg's he'd understood, they where quite fascinating.

Part of him was immensely enjoying his stay and part of him wanted to sneak tunnel snake into F’nar’s sleeping furs to get back at from for informing Ar’wen for not letting him have choice to back up of coming to stand at Meth’s clutch. Sitting he gingerly uncovered the stones that had been heated by the hearth that where now barely warm and placed them into the out skirts of the fire. He then took the bowl from the table, picking up a pair of tongs and started placing the hot stones on top of the sand filled bowl. As he grasped the last heated stone the bowl shuttered he found this puzzling the eggs weren’t so post to hatch this soon.

Dropping the stone back into the fire he quickly started to remove the stones he’d so carefully placed and drug into the hot sand until he uncovered the egg closet to him. The little egg shuddered shaking the bowl; Aldassare picked up the bowl and lifted onto the table. Looking to see if he had anything left from his lunch, glad to find a decent sized piece of meat left on his plate he was glad he'd not had much of an appetite earlier. XieIn the process of reaching for his plate he could hear the shell of the marbleized egg being scratched at then a cracking noise. When he turned back to the bowl a small purple head was poking out of the top of the egg, his awe was broken when the little hatching launched itself on to the plate, attacking the scraps of meat.

Aero Aldassare found himself practically pulling pieces of meat out of the hatchlings mouth since the little thing didn’t know how to pace itself and had almost choked itself a few times by stuffing it’s tiny mouth to fast. As he did the best to pace the uniquely colored hatchling intake of meat the bowl that contained
the remaining egg started to shake violently. The quaking egg knocked over the bowl rolling to a stop inches from the edge of the table a split down the center to reveal a blue slightly larger then the little purple.

Aldassare sighed both hatchling where currently snoozing in his lap their little bellys stuffed to capasiticty. Little did he know that he'd have more then just the little hatchlings before this sevenday was over.
