I have been handcrafting fine lap dulcimers, hammered dulcimers and harps for alomst thirty years. I use my skills and knowledge to create finely crafted instruments, made one at a time in my small shop. I use native West Virginia woods in the construction of his instruments such as Walnut, Cherry, Maple, Poplar, Sassafras, Locust and other woods, depending on availability. These woods can be used for the top of the instrument as well but Spruce and Western Red Cedar are used as well.

Worth lap dulcimers are made in the tradition teardrop and hourglass shapes, about 8 inches wide and 34 inches long, including the peghead. The rustic violin shape is also available, being almost 10 inches wide and 34 inches long. Also, we are offering the newest shape, one we can't quite find a name for. We think it looks like something Mr. Spock would play on Star Trek, so we named it after him.

Worth lap dulcimers are usually made with four strings but can be made with three, five or six strings on special requests. A 6½ fret is added so that you can play the musical scale starting with the open strings.

Soundholes for the lap dulcimers are usually cut in the shapes of hearts, f-holes, hummingbirds, leaves, moons, stars and suns but requests for other designs are taken. We have some dulcimers on hand but we make them pretty much to custom order.

Prices for Worth lap dulcimers are $225 and a softshell case can be purchased with or without the dulcimer for $40. Please add $15 for shipping and handling for each dulcimer in the United States. E-mail us for shipping costs overseas. West Virginia residents add 6% sales tax.

Worth harps are made from cherry, maple and walnut with an Italian poplar plywood soundbound. Poplar has the same sound qualities spruce and the plywood laminates give it strength. Our 22 string harps measure 32 inches tall and the soundbox measures 10 1/2 at its widest point. The 22 strings give our harps three octaves, and the first string is tuned to G. The C strings are colored red and the F strings are colored blue. Sharpening levers are placed on the C and F strings so that the harp can be played in the keys of G and D. Tuning wrench and harp stand are included.

The price for a Worth harp is $600 and $30 for shipping and handling.
