Virginia Tech
Mountain Bike Race September 22

Here it is. The Virginia Tech Race this past weekend was the crusher  us older guys still dread, and the new victims will get to live in fear until next year.  The trip down was a long and fun one no doubt, with the secret word being "Snow" The conditions were perfect, dry and fast.  This was the longest set of races for the whole season.  A leg cramping 18 miles for the C's, 22 miles for the B's and a seriously painful 27 for the A's.  I must say all seven attendees put out there effort to the max. Derik even sacrificed food and water so Chad could chase down the top riders in the A class.  Dave had some serious mechanical and inflatable issues, coming home with 4 flats!! But still didn't finish last. The Bs and C's had to battle it out amongst the best showings of many teams in the conference.  Kudos to you guys who finished Alex, John, Brendan, Derik and Luke. We scored a fourth place with only half of our usual number of riders, so watch out for conference championships when we hand them their as#*s in a royal manor when the full squad is in effect!!
