1.with a #10, #15 or #30 blade, shave the chin and neck to a point below the Adam's apple about the level of the back. From that point, curve up on each side to a point just in front of the ear opening and including all hair in front of ear opening. VERY IMPORTANT, the division of the clipped face and full top knot, must be from the outer corner of the eye to the ear opening. To divide face from top knot, clip a straight line between the inner corners of the eyes. Trim or remove NO HAIR FROM TOP KNOT! ! ! ! ! !
2. Leaving all hair on ankles, shave feet VERY CLEAN.
3. Clip all of lower ¼ of tail. Finish this by clipping a small half circle from just under rectum to a slight point just in front of the tail base, on each side. Scissor off all hair longer than the end of the tail. Scissor a neat and even ball out of the hair remaining on the tail.
4. Clip bare with a #l5 blade a diamond shaped area on belly, starting at the umbilicus, and going back to, and including, the vulva or testicles. Clip gently, without stretching the skin. Do not make the diamond so wide that any bareness shows when the dog stands.
5. With a #3, #4, #5 or #7 blade, shorten all hair remaining on body and neck from just below the skull bone to the dotted lines shown on the diagram.
6. With scissors, shape a jaunty, neat, high and narrow top knot so that no hair ever is able to fall over face, or to the sides of the head. Tidy and straighten the lines of the leg hair so that the legs APPEAR STRAIGHT, NOT BOWED OR BANDED. Blend the long leg hair artistically into the short body hair.
