Jean Grey, also known as Phoenix, is a founding member of the X-Men, and was Xavier's first student. She is one of the most powerful psi's on the entire planet, with telepathic and telekinetic abilities. Jean has been everything from Marvel Girl to Phoenix to Dark Phoenix, as well as being cloned by Mr. Sinister to create Madeline Pryor, or the Goblin Queen. She is often reffered to as the heart and soul of the team, and is considered a very valuable person to have on their side. In her days as Marvel Girl she was mistakingly wrote off as the weak link in the team. Time would tell a different story. The Dark Phoenix Saga is considered to be one of the BEST storylines ever in comic book history. 
She is my second favorite X-men and in my opinion the most powerful member. I mean how many others can overcome death, cloning, death, the phoenix, kidnapping, and probably even more death, and still wear that pretty smile!
