The fallout from King of the Ring was expected to unravel as RAW opened live from Cleveland!
The ring at the Gund Arena had nearly every superstar on the RAW roster standing on the ring apron as WWE Chairman Vince McMahon came down and stood in the squared circle's center. Mr. McMahon said many of the superstars in the past had asked him a question and he was going to answer it. Many of them asked what the secret to his success is. Mr. McMahon said he would share that secret with them. More than anything, his ruthless aggression is what put him on top. Years ago, he took on every major wrestling promoter and won. He took on the United States in the court system and kicked it's ass. He also put WCW out of business with his ruthless aggression.
Vince eyed the superstars and asked which of them had enough ruthless aggression to reach for the stars like never before. Several of them pleaded their case. Vince said they would find out that night who has that one special ingredient. Vince said there was one person who was not out there who proved at King of the Ring that he is ruthless: Brock Lesnar. Vince cited ruthless aggression as the reason that Brock became the 2002 King of the Ring.
Mr. McMahon then picked on RVD for losing to Brock, then chided Bubba Ray Dudley for his interference last night. He said we would see how much ruthless aggression Bubba has tonight when he went one-on-one with Eddie Guerrero!
Mr. McMahon looked over at Jeff Hardy and told him that he would get to show his aggression when he went up against the Undertaker later on with Matt Hardy barred from ringside!
Before Vince went much further, the nWo's entrance theme hit and the faction came out to the entranceway. Shawn Michaels apologized for being late, and said that ruthless aggression personifies one group. Michaels said there are no bigger and better superstars than the nWo. Michaels said they would like to extend their services to take out some of the trash that stood around the ring. Kevin Nash chimed in by saying that if anyone had a problem, they should try headlining a few WrestleMania's then giving them a call!
Booker T stepped inside the ring and grabbed the mic from Mr. McMahon. He said the nWo needed to go, because they're not stars, they just blow! Goldust stepped in and said there was nobody tighter than he and Booker T. He said the two were so tight that they were practically married! Booker grabbed the mic back and challenged any member of the nWo to a fight! Mr. McMahon took the mic back and said that would not be a one-on-one match. He said that Shawn Michaels wouldn't be the competitor because he proved himself a long time ago. He also said it wouldn't be Kevin Nash, who was still suffering from a biceps tear. But Mr. McMahon warned Nash that if he didn't live up to expectations after recovering, he would find himself in the unemployment line with his buddy Scott Hall.
Mr. McMahon went on to make a tag team match for the evening. X-Pac and Big Show would take on Goldust and Booker T with Nash and Michaels barred from ringside. Booker jerked the mic back and said he can dig that!
The first match of the evening pitted Spike Dudley and Hardcore Champion Bradshaw against Christopher Nowinski and William Regal. The Harvard graduate started things off against Bradshaw. Bradshaw showed Nowinski that WWE is not the Ivy League. He decked Nowinski with a DDT and followed with a sidewalk slam.
Spike tagged in but didn't have the same fortune. Nowinski out powered Spike and tagged in Regal. Spike fought back when Nowinski tagged back in, and managed to get the Texan back in the ring. Spike tried to help out with the Dudley Dawg, but Regal tossed him over the top rope! Bradshaw leveled Regal with the Clothesline from Hell, but Nowinski caught Bradshaw by surprise, rolling him up for the win!
Backstage, Mr. McMahon was telling Sgt. Slaughter that there were a couple a guys that he wanted out of his company. He said that Tommy Dreamer and Raven used to be stars, but Vince put their ECW/WCW Alliance out of business. He said he would give them one last match that night. Sarge left, and Vince found Tough Enough Champion Jackie in his office. Mr. McMahon said that he knew she would show up and show off. Mr. McMahon said she would be in a match that night, teaming with Molly Holly against Linda and Trish! Jackie then pulled back her overcoat, making Mr. McMahon wide-eyed. His eyes got even wider when Taker walked in unannounced! The Dead Man said he was ticked off at The Rock's interference, and he wanted a match with him that night. Mr. McMahon said The Rock was not there, as he appears on SmackDown! Mr. McMahon explained that he had made a match with Taker against Jeff Hardy. Taker promised to make Jeff famous the old-fashioned way.
Bubba Ray Dudley came out and promptly set up a table in front of JR and The King. He yelled to JR that someone was going through it. Backstage, Eddie Guerero screamed to Terri that if they wanted to see a star, they will find the brightest one in Latino Heat.
Guerrero and Bubba Ray began to brawl in the ring. Bubba went for the Bubba Bomb, but Eddie wisely rolled his opponent into a pin attempt and got the 1-2-3! Eddie attacked Bubba after the match and brought the ringside table into the ring. Bubba recovered and watched with arms folded as Eddie struggled to set up the table. When he turned around, Bubba was waiting, and he powerbombed Eddie through the wood! Suddenly, Chris Benoit dashed in and applied the Crippler Crossface to Bubba! Several refs streamed in to break things up!
Goldust appeared backstage, dressed as that Crocodile Hunter guy. Holding a plastic crocodile, Goldust said they were going into the most vile environment: the nWo locker room! He found Big Show snoozing and went into a monologue about the creature's habits, and gnarly smell! X-Pac walked in and demanded to know what the hell was going on. Goldust identified him as a greasy bandanna-wearing creature that tends to suck!
Elsewhere, Matt Hardy tried to pump up his brother before his match against the Undertaker. He said that this would be Jeff's night to shine.
Goldust fled through the hallway with X-Pac chasing. Goldust ducked into a locker room, and a resounding WHACK! was heard as X-Pac followed. X-Pac fell in a heap as Booker T appeared holding a metal trash can lid.

Dreamer also scored with a DDT soon after, but again, Raven would not stay down. Raven struck back with hit own DDT, but Dreamer hit a Samoan Drop and got the win! Dreamer looked amazed, while Raven went up the ramp with security making sure he exited.

Cameras caught a ticked-off Raven getting his stuff and leaving the building. He went outside, but was attacked by Matt Hardy! Matt threw Raven's battered body onto the hood of a car and told him to have a nice trip!
JR and Paul Heyman stood in the ring, which was layered with a red carpet. JR noted that as King of the Ring, Brock Lesnar has a shot at the WWE Championship at SummerSlam. Heyman congratulated himself for coming up with that stipulation, then introduced Brock Lesnar. Heyman said it was time that the people realize that Brock is the answer to Mr. McMahon's questions. Heyman said nobody on the planet wants it more than Brock Lesnar. Heyman told the crowd to set their envy aside and stand up to applaud the King of the Ring. This elicted more boos than cheers, but suddenly, Rob Van Dam broke in and nailed Lesnar with a kick to the face! Heyman had to restrain Lesnar outside the ring!
Paul Heyman vented to Mr. McMahon backstage. Mr. McMahon asked what he wanted to do about it. Heyman said SummerSlam was too far away, and that Brock needed to become a champion that night. He said Mr. McMahon should make a match with Brock against RVD for the Intercontinental Championship. Mr. McMahon asked Brock would become the IC Champion that night, and Heyman animatedly said he would!
Jeff Hardy took on the Undertaker next in a non-title match. Taker need Jeff in the midsection and battered him in the corner to start the match. Taker went to hit the guillotine leg drop from the ring apron, but Jeff moved and launched his body over the top rope onto Taker! Jeff, though, soon found himself being chokeslammed onto the hard ground. Back inside the ring, Taker gave Jeff the Last Ride and pinned him with ease. Taker rode off on his bike, but stopped at the top of the entranceway. Jeff Hardy managed to get a hold of a microphone. Jeff said that Taker had beaten his ass time and time again. Jeff wanted another match next week, but not just any match: a Ladder Match! Taker looked surprised but appeared to accept!
Linda Miles and Trish Stratus took on Jackie Gayda and the new WWE Women's Champion, Molly Holly, next. Before the match, Molly said it was an honor to bring respect back to the Women's Championship by earning it instead of sleeping her way to the top. Trish said Molly didn't earn the title, she cheated. She didn't sleep her way to it, she worked hard for it. Trish said she would kick Molly's fat ass! The brawl began with Linda catching Jackie in an arm lock while Trish struck the appendage from the top rope. Jackie fought back and tagged in Molly, who picked Linda apart. Before long, Trish came in and took over, dragging Jackie down with the head scissors. Linda nailed Jackie with a dropkick, then Trish hit the Stratusfaction on Molly for the win!

2002 King of the Ring Brock Lesnar met the runner up, Rob Van Dam, in the night's main event with the Intercontinental Championship on the line. Brock opened by ramming his shoulder repeatedly into RVD's shoulder. RVD struck back with some shoulder charges as well, then reversed what would have been a deadly powerbomb into a huracanrana! Brock tumbled out of the ring, and RVD followed by launching his body over the top rope. But Brock caught him with ease and began to dominate Mr. Monday Night.
Brock choked RVD on the ring ropes as Heyman watched happily from ringisde. Brock delivered consecutive back breakers to RVD then slumped the IC Champion on the mat.
