WWF Smackdown!
WWF Smackdown! started off with footage from this past Monday night on RAW is WAR with coverage of the Invasion! It was Kane and Jericho against Storm and Awesome and during that match, Rob Van Dam and Tommy Dreamer hit the ring and attacked the WWF guys. From there, the WWF locker room emptied out, and they were all former ECW stars and they turned on the WWF guys and beat them down in the ring! Paul Heyman got in the ring and stated that the Invasion has been taken to the Extreme! Both WCW and the WWF lost some wrestlers and Shane and Vince were going to work together against ECW, but we found out that it was all a plan by Shane McMahon to take down the WWF. ECW joined WCW, and Shane announced that they merged in a war against the WWF. From there, Shane McMahon announced Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley as the new owner of Extreme Championship Wrestling!
The Undertaker and Vince McMahon were shown from earlier tonight and Vince offered his hand to the Undertaker to shake. The fans booed and the Undertaker just stood there. Vince said a deal is a deal. He gave him what he wanted tonight. Exactly what he wanted. Even though he has Kurt Angle as his tag team partner, he didn't ask for that, but he asked for DDP in the ring tonight with Shane McMahon. Therefore, the Undertaker is going to do Vince the honors of being on Team WWF at Invasion, right? The Undertaker coughed and said a deal is a deal, right? Vince said yes, and he asked the Undertaker how Sara is. The Undertaker told Vince not to worry about how Sara is. The Undertaker told Vince that he doesn't want to hear her name come out of his lips again. A deal is a deal, and don't screw with him, because tonight, someone will take the Last Ride. When it's over, WCW will be the least of Vince's problems.
The show kicked off with a huge bang in the arena and Michael Cole and Jim Ross were side by side for commentary! As we saw this past Monday night on RAW is WAR with the WWF Superstars defecting to ECW, Tazz was one of them and Michael Cole lost his partner for Smackdown!.
Shane McMahon's music hit in the arena and he made his way to the ring along with his WCW Superstars. Shane's shirt had both a WCW and ECW logo on the back of it as he lead his guys to the ring. The fans booed and Shane McMahon got on the mic and said allow him to get right into this, because tonight, in this very ring, WCW will show it's dominance. Because tonight, it's DDP and Shane McMahon taking on the WWF's Olympic Gold Medalist, Kurt Angle and Sara's husband, the Undertaker. Shane got back to last Monday night, because last Monday night, they shocked the world! Nobody saw it coming. Nobody at all! What happened? The merger of the most powerful entity ever created to take on the World Wrestling Federation. It's fiercest competitor was formed when WCW joined ECW. That combination at Invasion will kick the WWF's ass as Shane said before. But you know what? Shane can't take all the credit as much as he would like to, because he also had a little bit of help. Without further adieu, being lead to the ring by Paul Heyman, give it up for his sister, Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley, the new owner of ECW! Stephanie McMahon Helmsley and Paul Heyman made their way out to the ECW music and the wrestlers followed, wearing the ECW T-shirts. Paul Heyman hugged Shane McMahon in the ring as the troops were all with them. Paul got on the mic and he said he thinks by now that it's common knowledge that the WWF and Vince McMahon took all of ECW's concepts. He thinks by now that it's common knowledge that the WWF and Vince McMahon took ECW's attitude as well as their talent roster and the Cable National Network, which ultimately ran ECW out of business. So if Vince McMahon is going to take everything from Paul's life, he's going to take everything from his. Paul Heyman took Vince McMahon's children! You see, Paul is the one that's in Shane and Stephanie's ears. This is something that Vince should pay close attention to. When Vince called Paul on the phone and said that he ran Paul's company out of business, but he'll put him next to Jim Ross and let him sit in Jerry Lawler's chair as the color commentator. Next to that pig! As he was sitting next to Jim Ross, Paul was the stooge. The mole that fed Shane McMahon all of the information that he needed. So Shane could perfect his perfect plan to steal WCW out from under his father. That wasn't enough. He wanted to take daddy's little girl. How do you do that? With power! The power to own her own company and make her own decisions. When it comes to power and Stephanie, Shane and Paul, WCW, ECW and the WWF. Power? Vince can give it to them or at Invasion, they can take it away from him. Isn't that right, Billion Dollar Princess? Stephanie told Paul that he can call her boss and she told Paul that he has a point. It is all about power. The fans chanted "Slut, slut, slut!" Stephanie said that she does own ECW and together, she and Shane have the power to run the WWF out of business. Shane was smart enough to buy WCW and Stephanie had the money to buy ECW, but can Vince really blame them for wanting to own their own companies and go against Vince? They are his children, but they are better than Vince McMahon. It's simple evolution. Children are stronger, smarter, faster and children generally out live their parents. Quite frankly, Shane and Stephanie just couldn't wait for Vince to die! See, Stephanie and Shane, if they have one fault, which they got from Vince, it would be that they are a little impatient. They couldn't want for Vince to die and get out of the way, so they decided to join forces. Together, ECW and WCW will run Vince and the WWF out of business forever!
Backstage Tajiri and William Regal were shown looking on and Regal said if it wasn't for Mr. McMahon, there wouldn't be sports entertainment. There wouldn't be WCW and ECW. Those three should be bloody ashamed of themselves. Regal thanked Tajiri for his decision to stay with the WWF. It was the right decision. Tajiri will go a long way. Regal asked Tajiri if there's anything he can do for him. Tajiri spoke in Japanese and he wants to commentate on WWF Smackdown!. Regal told Tajiri that he could be a commentator on Smackdown! and Tajiri got excited and the he went on his way as Regal sat down with a smile on his face.
Vince McMahon was shown in the backstage area, sulking and Stone Cold Steve Austin showed up. Austin asked him how he's doing, and he said he's all right. Debra was with Stone Cold and Vince said that he's down in the dumps with this Invasion thing. On top of it, his kids turn against him. Stone Cold told Vince that he's still got him. He's right there with Vince. Vince appreciates that, and Austin said it's not helping, is it? Vince said that he appreciates it. Austin said that his kids leaving him is like stabbing him in the back, but he's got something that's going to erase all of Vince's problems. WWF will be number one. Shane and Steph will be back by Vince's side. Vince is looking forward to it as we cut back to the arena where Tajiri sat down with the commentators for commentary!
Hardcore Holly vs. Tazz
Tazz's music hit in the arena and he made his way to the ring for a one on one match against Hardcore Holly as a representative of ECW. Tazz looked at the commentators as Hardcore Holly made his way to the ring. Holly attacked Tazz from behind and then he backed him into the corner and gave him a number of right hands and kicks. Holly chopped Tazz across the chest a couple of times and then he whipped him into the opposite corner and knocked him down with a clothesline. Holly hooked Tazz in a suplex and then he mounted him and gave him a number of right hands down on the mat. Holly hung Tazz on the ropes and then he kicked him in the groin as he held onto his legs. Holly stomped away on Tazz as he was down on the mat and then Holly tossed Tazz to the outside of the ring. Holly went after him and Tazz gave him a shot to the mid section. The two exchanged blows on the outside of the ring and then Holly rolled Tazz back into the ring. Holly gave Tazz a body slam and then a leg drop. Holly pinned Tazz for a two count and then he gave him some right hands as Tazz was on his knees. Holly choked Tazz with his boot and the referee was there to make the count. Tazz gave Holly a hard right hand and then some shots to the mid section. Holly backed Tazz into the corner and kicked away on him and then he whipped him to the other corner and Tazz kicked him in the face and then he locked the Tazzmission on Hardcore Holly to get the win!
Winner - Tazz
After the match, Tazz got up and celebrated and Jim Ross thanked Tajiri for joining them. Michael Cole told Tajiri that he has a future in this business. Tazz got out of the ring next to the commentators and he went over to the table and approached Tajiri. Tajiri got up and Tazz slapped him across the face and then he beat up on him on the outside of the ring! Tazz locked the Tazzmission on Tajiri and referee Jack Doan was there to try to break it up. The fans chanted "ECW, ECW!" as Michael Cole asked Tazz what has gotten into him. Tazz didn't give Cole an answer and then he got back in the ring and celebrated his win some more.
Backstage Vince and Debra were shown and Vince was talking about the Invasion, and he asked what the hell Stone Cold is going to do? Debra said that he tells her nothing. Vince said he would like Paul Heyman's head on a stick. Stone Cold came back with a guitar and Vince asked Stone Cold if he's going to hit someone over the head with it? Stone Cold said that's not what they need. Violence isn't the answer to their problems. Austin told Vince to trust him, and sit down. Austin explained to Vince that ever since he was a little kid, if he had a problem, his dad would break out the guitar and sing some songs. He would forget about the bully or whatever. Austin is offering Vince some music. Inspiration for Vince! Vince doesn't understand, and Austin explained some more to Vince, and Stone Cold is here to sing and solve Vince's problems. This is inspiration. Can't you feel it?! Austin sang to Vince: Ooombya my lord, oombya!" Vince closed his eyes and Stone Cold stopped and Austin asked Vince if he remembers Queen. Austin sung "I am the Champion, my friends and I'll go on fighting to the end! Cus I am the Champion, I am the Champion! No time for losers, cus I am the Champion of the world!" Vince couldn't believe what he was seeing, and it didn't seem to be helping him.
Chris Jericho vs. Lance Storm
In the arena, Lance Storm made his way to the ring as a representative of Extreme Championship Wrestling to go against the World Wrestling Federation's own Chris Jericho! Lance Storm got on the mic and said if he can be serious for a minute. The WWF fans may be used to their cartoon characters, the pyro and bells and whistles that go along with it. Lance assures everyone that he's no cartoon character. He needs no bells and whistles and he'll prove it when he destroys the fans very own...Chris Jericho! Jericho's music hit to interrupt Lance Storm before he could finish and he made his way out to the arena. Chris Jericho and Lance Storm were Tag Team partners in the past, and they both trained with the legendary Stu Hart in Calgary, but tonight, they are enemies. Chris Jericho got on the mic on the ramp and he said Lance Storm isn't a cartoon character. No, he's more like a movie character. His name really isn't Lance Storm, is it? He thinks his name is really Forrest Gump! And Forrest, my momma always said, would you please shut the hell up! After that little beat down that Storm and his buddies gave Jericho on RAW, well tonight, he's not going to get mad. He's going to get, get, get, get even! Jericho stormed to the ring and went right at it with Lance Storm! Jericho took Storm down with a flying forearm and then an arm drag and some right hands. The referee for this match was Nick Patrick and Jericho slammed Storm into the ring post. Jericho whipped Storm to the opposite corner and Storm sprang to the apron and came off the top rope with a clothesline to knock Jericho down. Storm stomped away on Jericho as he was down on the mat and then he rubbed his face into the mat. The fans chanted "Y2J" as Jericho kicked Storm in the chest and went for an Enziguri. Storm got a half Boston crab on Jericho, but Jericho was able to get to the ropes to break the hold. Storm got Jericho in a suplex and then he went back to the top rope and Jericho countered with an arm drag from the top rope. Both men were down and referee Nick Patrick started the count. Both men got up at the count of 7 and the two exchanged right hands. Jericho got the upper hand and he whipped Storm off the ropes and gave him a reverse elbow and a clothesline to knock him down. Jericho chopped Storm across the chest a number of times and then he whipped him off the ropes and gave him a high back body drop. Jericho gave Storm a bulldog and he went for the lionsault but Storm got his knees up. Storm kicked Jericho down and then he pinned him for a two count. Storm got Jericho in a back suplex but Jericho was able to get out of it and landed on his feet. Storm rolled under Jericho and he went for the half crab but Jericho was able to roll through it and he got the Walls of Jericho on Lance Storm to get the win!
Winner - Chris Jericho
Stone Cold, Debra and Vince were shown and Stone Cold was singing to Vince. Kurt Angle showed up and Austin continued to sing. Kurt Angle asked him what he's doing. Austin said he's trying to cheer up Vince McMahon. Kurt didn't look like he liked it and Austin told Vince to look at him. He's jealous! He's jealous of his relationship with Vince McMahon. He's jealous that Kurt Angle can sing. Kurt said that he was in the glee club in High School for 2 years. Austin asked him if he could play the ax, and Kurt didn't know what that was. It was the guitar. Kurt said he played the ukulele, so he might be able to play the guitar. The two argued and then Austin gave him a shot at it. Kurt sat down with the guitar and Vince asked if this is a good idea. Austin said it was until Kurt came in. Kurt asked Austin to move over, because he's making him nervous. Austin moved closer to Kurt, and Kurt told him the other way. Kurt Angle told Vince that he thinks this one will cheer Vince up. Kurt Angle sang "Jimmy Crack Corn and I don't care!" and Vince McMahon got up and left! "Jimmy Crack Corn and I don't care. Jimmy Crack Corn and I don't care. I got Olympic Gold!" Austin yelled at Kurt and he asked him what he's doing, because Vince is gone! Kurt ran Vince out of the room, he stinks. He's horrible. Kurt said that he wasn't any worse than Austin. Austin said that he spent a lot of money on guitar lessons. He's great. Kurt and Austin argued about whether or not the lessons worked or not. Austin got up and walked away, telling Kurt Angle that he makes him sick.
In the back, Trish is explaining to Jeff that she was just caught up in the moment on Raw. Matt and Lita come up. Lita says that she has no problem with them tagging at Invasion, but they have personal problems, and she'd like to settle them in the ring.
In the staff room, Mike Awesome comes up to the federation sewer and says that he needs new pants. He wants them to say "Awesome" on one side, and "Awesome" on the other so that everyone knows that he is the Awesome One.
In the back, Edge and Christian are watching Awesome on the TV in disgust. Edge wonders if his royal ears deceive him. Did some chumpstain just call himself Awesome?
In the back, Vince has Team WWF assembled. They consist of Jericho, Kane, Undertaker, Austin, and Angle. Whether they like each other or not, it doesn't matter. They're going into Invasion. They're going into it with both ECW and WCW breathing down their neck. They need to be unified, and function as one unit. He needs commitment from each of them that they will be unified, support each other, and that they will kick WCW and ECW's collective asses. They all give their words. United they stand, divided they fall, so let's stand tall.
"No Chances" hits and WWF Chairman Vince McMahon comes down to the ring. Allow him to introduce to the fans: the greatest WWF Champion of all time; the man who will lead Team WWF into Invasion. Ladies and gentlemen: Stone Cold Steve Austin! The glass breaks, and the WWF Champion makes his way to the ring, to a nice pop. Vince tells Austin that they say that since Wrestlemania, Austin has changed. He's changed so much that the anti-authority poster boy has become a brown noser. Vince says that Austin has changed: as a WWF Champion, he's changed for the better. But as we go to Invasion, perhaps we need another change. We don't need the Leader of Team WWF being the Stone Cold that gives hugs, that sings songs, that gives cowboy hats. He needs the Old Stone Cold. He needs the Stone Cold who's a beer-swilling, foul-mouthed SOB. The Stone Cold who don't take no shit from anybody. The hellraising Stone Cold Steve Austin. The Austin who would look at Mr. McMahon and would knock him on his ass if he had his hair parted the wrong way. He needs The Old Stone Cold to lead Team WWF into Invasion. He feels that Austin wants to knock him on his ass right now. If you want Stone Cold to beat the living hell out of Vince McMahon, give him a hell yeah. Crowd: "Hell Yeah!" But Austin shakes his head 'no' and walks out of the ring. Head down, Austin makes his way up the ramp as Vince pleads for Austin to come back. He begged Stone Cold Steve Austin to give him the Stone Cold Stunner. Apparently, Vince McMahon wants the old, mean Rattlesnake back for the WCW / ECW Invasion!
Moments later Stone Cold and his wife Debra were shown leaving WWF Smackdown!. Has he turned his back on the WWF in the midst of the biggest fight in the WWF's life?
Kurt Angle and Vince were shown and Vince seemed to be leaving. Kurt asked Vince where he's going, and Vince said that he's going to find Stone Cold and talk some sense into him. Kurt asked Vince if he's going to stay for his match and Vince said that he has to go find Stone Cold so he can be the leader of Team WWF. Kurt offered to be the leader and Vince said that he has to go find Austin. Vince told Kurt that he's going to find Stone Cold and talk some sense into him. When he does, the old Stone Cold will be leading Team WWF! Vince McMahon got in his limo and went on his way!
