Guerrilla War in France

In France a lot of organizations were formed. The most important was the one led by De Gaulle from London. Sabotage, strikes and riots took place to combat the germans.

The main actions were aimed to paralize the industry and the railroads hurting the german war effort.

Some areas of the country were the nature of the terrain allowed it were almost controlled by the partisans.

Before the D-Day the partisans helped to prepare the invasion with massive sabotage acts destroying the communications. When the landing begun the partisans attacked the german units heading to Normandy, making their approach very slow, and giving the allies time to transfer reinforcements from England. Finally the partisans liberated huge areas of the country, including the city of Paris.

Near the end of ww2 some partisans joined the regular french army, that played a role in the invasion of Germany.
