Created in 1984 by Bridget and Jerome Dobson for the NBC, this daytime soap became soon in a reference for all the lovers of the style. Although during their nine years of emission the series didn't reach big audience ratings??, the personality of the series, did the courage of their writers, the effort of their actors, and the fidelity of their followers make that the series liked in the public one and also in the specialized critic. 

Their numerous prizes Emmy  confirmed that Santa Barbara, was not a series anyone but rather it was the series with UPPERCASE. 

Canceled in 1993 by production problems, the followers of this continue remembering it in spite of the step of the time.

Broadcasted for the first time in 1989 in the public channel TVE1, the series was 2 years in antenna and although this obtained some good audience ratings, the channel didn't continue with the emission of more episodes. 

In 1991 and surprisingly less than one week after the emission end in TVE1, a private channel that market was opening up in the Spanish audiovisual sector, Antena 3 Television, bought the rights of this and it continued there with the emission of the series where TVE1 had left it. 

In 1993 and with the entrance in the shareholders of Antena 3 of another company, the responsible ones? of programming they began to move the series for different schedules and to speculate with their emission. Result of this whole situation went to condemn to the series to the abandonment on the part of the channel and to the later cancellation of the series in 1996.
