World Wide Web Championship Wrestling started in June 1998, under the control of Markus and Eric Maltby. The fed lasted for about 2-3 months before closing down. The fed then re-opened in mid-November, with a much different attitude, and a totally different format. Matches were now being determined by roleplays, instead of who the TNM simulator felt should win. This attracted many new faces to the 3WCW. In mid-December, a dispute in ownership led to Markus stepping down as Co-President. In mid-April, Markus Maltby took over the 3WCW, as Eric Maltby stepped down. However in late-May, early-June, the 3WCW closed down once again. But World Wide Web Championship Wrestling wasn't down for long, as it was re-opened 2-3 weeks later, with a new look. Since then, the 3WCW had been running strong, with participation from nearly everyone. Mid-July saw the birth of a partnership between the 3WCW and the PWWF. These 2 friendly rivals participated in a "ratings war". However this idea didn't last too long, as the 3WCW closed down once again briefly. A scheduled return date, being August 16, 1999, was haulted by the idea of the merging of the 3WCW and PWWF, and from that the NACW was born.
