Summary: "She likes to sit and watch the clouds, and when she does, she thinks." Notes at the end. :o) Feedback is a girl's best friend.. SK850@aol.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- She likes to sit and watch the clouds. She doesn't have as much time as she would like, but there are days where she manages to slip away from the chaos of her office, days where she can escape from life for a few minutes. She likes to sit and watch the clouds, and when she does, she thinks. Different clouds lead to different thoughts. Some days, when they dot the sky like puffs of cotton, she thinks that everything is going to be all right. Their problems will blow over as easily as the clouds, leaving nothing but calmness and happiness. Other days see sees the menacing thunderheads in the distance and realizes that there is no way this will end quickly. But when the clouds merge together, joining to form a blanket over the heavens, she thinks of him. She's not sure why these particular clouds remind her of him, but they do. So she thinks about it. How it would never work between them. After all, they work in the White House, under the scrutinizing eye of the world. She tilts her head back and watches a ray of sunlight poke through the sea of white and gray, and she feels a glimmer of hope. Sometimes, he watches her. He tells himself he's going out for a smoke, but he always ends up in the same spot. Leaning against a pilar, watching her sit and think. He's never understood the fascination people have with clouds, never understood people's facsinations with anything. And yet he's fascinated by her. She feels awkward, a grown woman sitting on the grass in the middle of the day, but all he sees is beauty and grace. It's the same beauty he first noticed on the campaign, and although the years have tried to dim it, he still sees it radiating from her. He doesn't know what she sees in the clouds, how they can possibly help her organize her thoughts, but he still watches. And as he does, he sees her smile. It's a genuine smile, one hidden from the world, emerging for only the special few. As he watches her smile, he makes a decision. Tomorrow, he's going to watch the clouds with her. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Notes: Woo, so this is a little different for me. And if you havent figured it out, its CJ/Toby. How did I come up with this? Easy. I was sitting at work the other day, watching the clouds. :) Lemme know what you think...
