Wenn Du sie einmal gefahren bist, gibst Du sie nicht mehr her!!"Over the span of 15 years, Daniel Mahrer was one of the most colorful athletes on the international Downhill circuit. The skier form Chur, in eastern Switzerland, who retired at the end of last winter after taking part in his eighth medal event in a row (1987/1996), was also one of the best. His victories on tough courses such as Kitzbuhel, Garmisch or Panorama, and numerous top-3 places, including the 1991 World Championships and his three Downhill World standings, speak for themselves. Mahrer belonged to the "old" generation of speed freaks which included champions such as "Kaiser" Klammer and Italy's Micheal Mair who enjoyed a fun night in clubs just a few hours after challenging the mountain. Married and the father of two kids, Daniel gave up FIS racing at the end of last winter. He has dedicated himself to his family and consulting top companies such as Rossignol.
