In the News... September 2003 - on front page 7-28 Sept 2003

Single decks on service 1... Oswestry vehicles operate Cefn Mawr shorts... Denbighshire Passenger Services... First expand in Wrexham...

This unusual shot shows a GHA Optare Solo "on hire to First". This vehicle, together with one each from Hutchinson and P & O Lloyd, displayed "on hire to First" signs on this Sunday's shuttle services to and from the Green Fair in Northop. Arriva also operated, as did First itself.

Cloion Coaches of Ruthin is using this GHA vehicle, seen on Cloion's service 68 to the west of Ruthin

From 1 September 2003, Arriva is using ex-MTL R- and ex-Manchester X-reg low floor Dennis Darts on Service 1. Showing branding along the cant rail in purple - and not dissimilar to First's Overground approach - is this freshly painted Dennis Dart.

{short description of image}

"Every 10 minutes", "Easy Access Buses" and "£3.20 Arriva day ticket" feature on the near side of this freshly painted Dart. Not all service 1 vehicles have this treatment

With the bus station phase 2 in the background, one of Arriva's ex-Manchester Darts is overtaken by E Jones & Son

"Denbighshire Passenger Services" fleet consists of two contrasting vehicles: the brand new Scolarbus 24 and this somewhat older Leyland National... converted and used by Denbighshire Youth Service as an exhibition and not in passenger service

Improvements to Service 2 in Wrexham this month mean a half-hourly service to Oswestry. This means that Wrexham depot undertakes some of the Oswestry journeys and Arriva Midlands vehicles, such as this, appear on shorts to Cefn Mawr

Awaiting duties is this First Olympian now used on school services in the Wrexham area, as well as the operator's flotilla of yellow school buses
