Wrexham
October 2003 Changes More Sunday Services Well in time for Christmas, Sunday 5 October 2003 saw the introduction of Wrexham Council's new Sunday network for the town and surrounding urban villages. The network was taken over by Arriva from that date. The changes follow the abortive introduction of an hourly service 12 months ago, something that could not be sustained at the time. This featured improvements to hourly for all local services previously operating at two-hourly intervals. The boosted routes included 11 Minera and 12 Brymbo. Sunday changes made in June included revisions to Sunday services between Wrexham, Ruabon and Llangollen which from that month operated hourly, with extensions hourly to Chirk during daylight hours. The opportunity was taken to introduce new hourly Sunday services to Marchwiel and also between Wrexham, Bradley and Llay, a route not benefitting from any service on that day for about 10 years. However, one Sunday casualty was the C56 between Wrexham, Holt and Chester, which was withdrawn after last operation on 28 September. This resulted from Cheshire County Council economies. It was previously operated by Hoylake & District. The previous week, starting on 28 September, the hourly evening Wrexham - Summerhill - Bradley - Llay route was split to offer hourly services from Wrexham to Summerhill and from Wrexham to Bradley and Llay, thereby mirroring daytime services and speeding up services to Llay.
