For those believing that 'Location, Location, Location'‚ is the most important asset of any property, 'Swn-y-Don' (Sound of the Wave) at Poppit Sands in Pembrokeshire, Wales must be the ideal beachside self-catering cottage. Being located at Poppit Sands in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park at the southern end of Cardigan Bay it is within Britain's first Heritage Coast and home of Bottle Nose dolphins. Since the holiday cottage is uniquely positioned at the edge of an extensive, gently sloping, sandy beach it provides spectacular views, whether it be the Teifi estuary on the right, black rocks on the left or Cardigan Island,Ceredigion, directly ahead. Poppit Sands beach is patrolled by a lifesaver during the summer months and has a very good cleanliness record. In fact a recent report by universities in Malta, Turkey and Wales concluded that the beach at Poppit was one of the best five beaches in the three countries. The recently modernised holiday cottage now has storage heaters installed and is suitable for use all year round, providing an excellent holiday property for young and old alike. It lies within a SSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) and a SAC (Special Area of Conservation). The accommodation of the self-catering cottage consists of: * A large living room overlooking the beach to Cardigan Island and the cliffs of Gwbert-on-Sea. * Satellite TV * A futon in the living room converts into a double bed to increase the sleeping capacity to six. * Bedroom 1 containing a double bed. * Bedroom 2 containing two bunk beds. * Kitchen with cooker, microwave, fridge, washing machine and skylight. * Fully equipped tiled shower room with skylight. The nearest town to Poppit Sands, Cardigan, is 3 or so miles away. As well as being a market town it has a good range of shops (24 hour Tesco, Boots etc.), numerous restaurants and recreational facilities such as a swimming pool, theatre, cinema golf club and sailing club.(www.visitcardigan.com)(www.cardigan-chamber.co.uk) St. Dogmaels is a village mid way between Cardigan and Poppit Sands with the usual facilities as well as a working mill and the well preserved ruins of an abbey founded around 1115. The Webley Hotel/Pub is approximately half a mile from the cottage and is scenically situated overlooking the estuary of the river Teifi. There are numerous attractions nearby including historic sites such as castles(www.ecastles.co.uk/sitewales and www.ecastles.co.uk/cilgeran.html). .html and), cromlechs, the ruins of an abbey and numerous beaches and secluded coves as well as the Preseli Hills - the source of the blue stones of Stonehenge. There are also plenty of interesting activities for children - should they ever want to leave the sand, sea and rocks. The recreational facilities in the area include fishing (sea and river), golf, riding, sailing, walking and a wildlife park. Poppit Sands is also the start of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path which continues unimpeded for 180 miles providing spectacular views of cliffs, coasts and country with opportunities to view seals, dolphins, porpoises and a large variety of birds including peregrine falcons, choughs, ravens, guillemots and razorbills. Parking is available just outside the holiday cottage. The property is fully booked in most of July and August by regular clients, some of 20 years standing. Prices range from £140 to £350 per week.
