Precinct 8 is located at the western boundary of Putrajaya. It is bounded on the other sides by Precinct 7 on its west and Precinct 10 to its north. With a total site area of 232.7 hectares, it is one of the mid-sized precincts in Putrajaya. However, its close proximity to the Persiaran Barat highway, the LRT/ERL terminal Complex in Precinct 7 extends into this Precinct and terminates at the waterfront. Due to its waterfront location, residential areas in this precinct are maintained as medium density.

The main character of the precinct is largely the result of its housing type. The tower blocks are up to 8 storeys high and are laid out to define the precinct as a town centre. Open space would be in the form of formal and informal parks and neighbourhood parks.

Medium density residential blocks are the main and dominant development components. Consisting of buildings of up to 6 storeys high, these blocks establishes the general character of the area. The other main development components would be the medium-rise high density commercial blocks of up to 8 storeys high. Other components include a Smart School Complex, two Post Offices, a Police Station, a Mosque, a Surau, an other religious facility, a Branch Library, a public Market, a Multi-Purpose Community Hall, an Information Centre and a Putrajaya Service Centre. Open Space would be in the form of formal and informal parks to the lakefront.
