Buffalo-The Northeast Conference challenge game pitted two arch rivals-Kaycee (19-2) and Midwest (9-12). Kaycee came out quickly, using a full-court press and hot shooting to extend an 8-0 lead. Midwest called a timeout to calm their nerves, and it seemed to do the trick, as at the end of the first quarter the scoreboard read 18-14, Kaycee's favor. Midwest, led by hot shooting from the post position, jumped out to a lead, and led the game 30-22 with 3:30 left in the quarter. Then, Kaycee made a run, and tied the score at 34-34 at the half. In the second half, the Oilers seemed to lose their hot shooting touch, while the Buckaroos began to light up the scoreboard. After the first minute and a half of play saw the score at 41-41, the Buckaroos began to pull away. It was mostly Kaycee's game to take, and they did, with a big run at the end of the game to extend the score to 79-56.

Kory Harrison had 22 points for Midwest, while Bill Fowler added 16 points and 12 rebounds on the Oilers' side of the tally.
