Feb 28-Yoder---The South East Conference challenge game was played Monday night
with the Chugwater Buffaloes and the Guernsey-Sunrise Vikings vying for the second seed from
the S. E. C. and for the right to go to the state tournament. In one of the best games of the
tournament, the Buffs came out on top 69 to 64 to earn the right to play at State this week-end.
The first quarter started out with the Vikings putting in everything that went up. They were up by
ten with six minutes left in the first quarter, and maintained the lead to end the first quarter 20
Vikings to 10 Buffs. The second quarter saw the Buffs settle down and make a 29 point run led by
Fisher's nine points. The Vikings kept in there by scoring 19 of their own to go to the locker
at half time with a 39 all tie game. The third quarter was pretty evenly played with defense being the
focus. The Vikings sank a three at the buzzer to go ahead 53 to 50 at the end of the third. The
fourth quarter saw the Buffs take the lead 58 to 53 before the Vikings took charge to gain a six
point lead, 64 to 58 with 2:30 on the clock. Baker sank a three to put the score 64 to 61 Vikings at
the two minute mark. The Vikings went to the four corner game to try to put the game on ice. A
steal by Westerman at the one minute mark gave the Buffs another chance to salvage the win.
Baker put in another three with 38 seconds on the clock to tie the game 64 all. The Vikings turned
over the ball on the press to give it back to the Buffs, and then fouled Caster. Caster made the
front end of the one and one to put the Buffs up 65 to 64. Westerman got another steal on the
press, and this time Guidice was sent to the charity line. Guidice missed the front end of the one
and one, but Westerman got the rebound and sent it out to Baker who was then fouled. Baker
sank two to make the score 67 to 64 with 25 seconds left in the game. The Vikings failed to convert
on their next possession and with 11 seconds, Rogers put up the final two points to give the Buffs
