Wells Fargo History Museum

Connect with history as Cindy shares the story of Mrs. Cassie Hill, a Wells Fargo Express agent in California from 1884 – 1907. Visitors will have fun learning about western life through the eyes of Mrs. Hill who served as telegraph operator, express shipping agent, and railroad employee. Mrs. Hill broke new ground for women by working in an occupation typically held by men. Mrs. Hill assumed her duties as express agent when her husband, then express agent, suddenly died leaving Mrs. Hill a widow with five children to support.

Stories of the 19th century American West would not be complete without discussing the Wells Fargo stagecoach! Listen to Cindy as she talks about stagecoach routes, passenger life aboard the stagecoach, and some of the colorful characters associated with the stagecoach. See a trunk full of items thought to be important to people traveling across the country by stagecoach.

As curator of the Wells Fargo History Museum, Cindy Fiske is an experienced storyteller. She is often found giving educational tours to schoolchildren, Wells Fargo employees and other community groups.

Cindy’s participation in the Girl Scouts of America, from Brownie to Girl Scout, helped her develop the belief that you can do anything you set your mind to!

Cindy has been an employee of Wells Fargo for 4 ˝ years, and likes the way the company treats its employees, and encourages her to further develop her professional museum career. The recent 150th anniversary celebrations of Wells Fargo showed her the company’s strong sense of pride in its enduring history.
