Cold as Steel

As I wait for the love we share to grow stronger
The miles between us keep getting longer

Maybe a love that is lost can be again
But my question to you has to be, when?

You speak of forever, but what does that mean?
It is something I’ve dreamt of but never seen

In naivety of youth, I took what I could take
But can you forgive the child her mistake?

Will that moment in time, ten years silent, last?
Or does that moment die with the past?

Your doubt and insecurity with love and trust shows
You change your mind as others change clothes

When will you stop fighting yourself, your heart?
Will you ever decide it is time for a new start?

Find out what you want, what you hope for and need
Forge your path in this life, only you can lead

I’m here, I’m real, and I’m still waiting
For you to decide if the chance is worth taking…

I thought it would be easy to love you, my friend,
Yet like steel that has cooled, you will not bend.

To say what needs saying, I’m calling your bluff,
What happens when “someday” just isn’t enough?

For Scott…
Remember, my Love, even the finest sword must have give, least it shatter and become useless at its first test of strength.
