Black Bear or Grizzly?

1. Grizzlies generally have a hump.

2. Grizzlies have a dished (Labrador retriever) face while a black bear has a straight profiled (Doberman pincher) face.

3. The track of the grizzly shows the toes to be on a straight line while a black bear slants at an angle.

4. Grizzlies are generally a tri colored animal, however color is not a good way to judge between a grizzly and black bear. Black bears can be black, brown or cinnamon colored.

Generally a grizzly is more aggressive in nature, however it is not uncommon for a black bear to go into predacious mode in which they may size up a human for food.
