Holding on to that look
you let me down without remorse
You let me seethe in my desire
Make me see the fault of fire.
Held so still by your statue stare
my confidence disappears
I’m fraught with fears of hate
I’ve fought so far too late.

And in this universe of blackness
You’ve shown your blinding brightness
You’ve been the star to shine my way
And driven back my darkest days.
And when my days lacked comforting light
You bathed me in your glorious sight
You shamed the sun’s so common rays
Devouring her stifling haze.

Barely a lingering smile
and faintly a fluttering wink
You discomfort me in this space
Your eyes seem drawn in place.
I’ve no desire to win
no more strength in me to fight
I only know the content you bring
Your blazing warmth so enticing.

And when my days lacked comforting light
You bathed me in your glorious sight
You shamed the sun’s so common rays
Devouring her stifling haze.
And in this world of nothingness
You were the shining in the darkness
You sheltered me from the unwelcoming gray
And drove the pain of unknowing away.
