The Pantheon of Ptah

Ptah created this world for his new wife, Bast. He created his first ones, the dwarves, who helped him create the world. Then Bast created her first people who walked as men in the day and as cats in the night. When they had a son, Netermest-Uaynu, the pains of birth awoke the spirit of the world, Nefertegi. Nefertegi awoke with tears of empathic pain for Bast, these tears formed Airam, goddess of oceans and love. Netermest-Uaynu immediately fell in love with Nefertegi and they were married that day.

Airam left and formed the fish from her own tears and her first people merpeople to keep her company and watch over the creatures of the sea.

Netermest-Uaynu and Nefertegi had twin sons, Nayakepu-Uaynu & Pesshetaup.

Pesshetaup created animals and his first people who walked as men in the day and as beasts at night as his grandmother Bast had done.

Nayakepu-Uaynu created his first people the gnomes to help him make the forests as his grandfather Ptah had done with the dwarves.

When all was done the first people (dwarves, lycanthropes, merpeople, & gnomes) were told to live in harmony and wisdom. This lasted for ten thousand years, but during this time the first people had grown apart, each making its own language. Nayakepu-Uaynu had also taken to hunting the first people (lycanthropes) of his brother when they were in beast form, as they had taken to hunting (the gnomes) his first people.

When Pesshetaup confronted his brother they grew angry and began to fight, the drops of blood from Pesshetaup that spilled upon the ground formed the wolfen, the blood of Nayakepu-Uaynu that fell formed the elves, where their blood mixed the were-elves/wolves rose. Nefertegi stopped her sons before they killed each other but was struck once and her blood formed the halflings.

This strife attracted the attention of Set, he looked upon Ptah's newest world and wife with envy and formed a wife of his own from a piece of Bast's shadow and the cold and dark of the void, Nire. Nire gave birth to 100 daughters, the marilith, and to six sons, Bokra, Focalar, Dagon, Sebek, Vaprak and Maglubiyet. Set then created his first people, humans, and Nire created her first people the succubi.

The Forest Cult

Souls of the faithful are placed in a seed and when they die the tree that grows from it is sentient but sessile. Cult members carry a seed (apple, pine cone, acorn, etc.) in a sacred pouch on their person at all times. A grove of 10 or more soul trees has the ability to enter and watch, join, or influence the dreams of those sleeping within a hundred yards of the grove.

The corpses of slain enemies, trespassers, or strangers can be turned into a golem through an ancient ritual that involves replacing the blood with sap from one of the sentient trees. This golem serves the tree whose sap it was made from and the corpse must be less than a week old.

Soul tree golems are the eyes and ears of their soul tree, the link is good for one mile, seeing, hearing, and feeling all the golem does. Trees without a golem gain sensory input as a normal tree and through dreams if part of a grove.

The skin of a soul tree golem comes to resemble the bark of its tree within a week, and its facial features fade within a month, giving it a DR 5/Adamantine, and an odd appearance. They have construct traits, darkvision 60', immunity to magic and are hasted for one round if hit with a fire based spell and slowed for one round if hit with a cold spell.

Another ritual involves a living sacrifice, but this 'child of the soul tree' retains its memory and appearance except that their hair and nails match the color of the leaves on its soul tree (pine-green all year round, oak-green in summer and spring, red in autumn, brown in the winter). This child of the soul tree is usually a relative and the ritual is rarely done. They have a telepathic link to the soul tree they were created from and to others made from the same tree and no longer need to eat or sleep. They also can command soul tree golems created from the same tree if within 60'.

Both the soul tree golem and the 'child of the soul tree' live as long as the soul tree does. They also both get a +6 to all Hide and Move Silent checks in the forest. In addition, neither type can speak and will grow back lost limbs in the spring.

The Dark Triad

Three demi-god brothers, the eldest, Dok the Plague Bringer, the second, Klyll the Red Moon of Fear, and the youngest, Mik-tol Eater of Souls came to this world long ago with their virulent plagues and rat-men (slithereen) followers.

After initial explorations, small-scale attacks on locals, diseases spread as the invader's presence and following grew larger. As the medical disaster swept the world, healers and clerics in short supply, the large cities were totally devastated, they became giant mass graves stinking up the countryside. Most nations collapsed under the strain and after the diseases had ravaged the regions closest to the invasion point the invaders began to overwhelm some coastal areas. With upwards of 95% of all soldiers, blacksmiths, farmers, merchants, rulers, mages, etc. having perished before a truly organized response even started the remnants of the old world died fighting desperately against this new force. Plague-immune species (lizardfolk, yuan-ti, ogres and goblins) quickly filled this power vacuum and spread into vacant lands.

Worshippers of Dok must have at least one disease and cannot harm a rat, they are immune to the pain and weakness of diseases and the last hour before they die from disease they feel utter euphoria. Wererats and slithereen are his favored and are granted immunity to even his plague, his non rat-men clerics who spread the plague to one hundred people are turned into wererats and their diseased bodies are healed.

Klyll has no clerics but those who worship him are immune to disease and can see 30' in absolute darkness and are completely blinded by daylight. His faithful rise as zombies when killed and will obey any other living worshipper, with no commands they mindlessly shamble towards the nearest living sentient creature, even if it is a thousand miles away. Ghouls are his favored and his faithful who slay one hundred people are turned into ghouls.

Mik-Tol has no priesthood but grants those who sacrifice a good aligned person to him an immunity to disease for one year. If the sacrifice is a paladin, Mik-Tols favorite, the immunity is permanent. Mik-Tol has no prefered minion and for every one hundred good aligned people sacrificed to him he grants a random gift.

Roll 1d6 for the gift of Mik-Tol
1: Skin turns jet black and hardens (+4 Natural Armor)
2: Eyes turn blood red (120' darkvision, -2 charisma)
3: Grows large bat wings (20' wingspan, and fly at twice normal move)
4: Fingernails turn into claws (paralyze as a ghoul)
5: Gain the feat Tomb Tainted Soul
6: Grows a rat tail and legs turn into rat legs (-2 to all stats)

After Ragnarok Pantheon

The new world rose out of the sea, green and growing, and crops had been grown without having been sown. The meadow Idavoll, in the now-destroyed Asgard, has been spared. The sun reappeared because before being swallowed by the wolf, Alfrodul (another name for the sun) gave birth to a daughter as fair as she herself, and this maiden daughter rides her mothers road in the new sky.

A few gods have survived: Odin's sons Vidar and Vali; Thor's sons Modi and Magni, who now have their father's magic hammer, Mjolnir; and most importantly, Balder and his brother Hod, who came up from Hel and dwell in Odin's former hall in the heavens. These survivors sit down together, discuss their mysteries, and talk of the things that have happened. In the grass at Idavoll, they find the golden pieces the Aesir had used in playing at draughts.

Humans reappeared because two of them, Lif and Lifthrasir, survived by hiding themselves during the cataclysm, in a place called Hoddmimir's Holt, a small thicket of trees. They lived on morning dew and repopulated the world of humans and worship their new pantheon of gods, led by Balder. Of the elves and dwarves only those who were cast into the shadow plane survived.

There are still be many halls to house the souls of the dead. Another heaven exists south of and above Asgard, called Andlang, and a third heaven further above that, called Vidblain; and these places offered protection while Surt's fires burned the world.

After Ragnarok, the hall of Gimle is the best place to be in heaven.

Brimir, another place in heaven, is a hall where plenty of good drink is served.

A hall called Sindri, built of red gold, houses the souls of the good and virtuous.

Nastrand (or Nastrond, "Corpse Strand"), a large hall facing north whose walls are woven of snakes. The snakes' heads all face the interior of the hall, spitting poison, so that rivers of poison flow inside. Here the souls of murderers and oath-breakers are forced to wade through these streams of poison forever.

And in the worst place of all, Hvergelmir, the serpent Nidhogg, also a survivor of Ragnarok, torments the bodies of the dead.
