Expressive Obsession Pt.1

Art | Expressive Obsession Pt.2 | LJ Obsession

I like to draw now and then.  Mostly though I either doodle and come up with original characters, or I copy free hand an image I'm impressed by.  I use HB pencils; I don't ink my stuff, and just about never colour them.  I also enjoy using Photoshop to create fusions of pictures and words.  Click on the thumbnails to access the picture in its original size; display is arranged from most recent (top) to earlier works (bottom).

MY DRAWINGS

This is a fan-art of Zoisite, a villain from Sailor Moon and a totally androgynous hottie.  I suck at drawing men (they usually turn into masculine women) but I tried using the "I.N.V.U." style and he turned out, well still a guy, but not as girly as he was in Sailor Moon.  I'm not sure how I feel about that.
This is a fan-art of Hali Kang, a very intriguing character from the manga "I.N.V.U.".  The style is different to what I'm used to and the eyes in particular gave me a hard time.  I like the windswept hair effect though.  The image I modelled this fan-art on has her wearing a cowboy hat.  ^_^
This is a fan-art of Ami Mizuno & Zoisite, my favourite fictional couple.  I thought the pose was adorable with her winking while he tenderly kisses her.  Unfortunately the proportions are all wrong.  Her hand is the same size as her eye!  I guess I just need more practise.
This is a fan-art of Ami Mizuno, my favourite Sailor Moon character.  Here, I was attempting the side-on profile.  At this angle I always draw the character with both eyes but I really wanted to try it without the distant eye.  This drawing turned out okay although I still need to practise drawing clothing.
This is not a fan-art.  It is definitely not Rei Hino, despite the slight resemblance (i.e. dark-haired chick).  You'll notice that her hair is different and she has a mole under her left eye.  This was done during a boring Biology lecture; the pose fashioned off of the singer in CLAMP's "Clover".
This is a fan-art of Rei Hino, and out of the many I've done this is my favourite.  The lines of her eyes and eyebrows wrap quite nicely, and the reflective pose she's in makes me think of Zen meditation and in fact the shape of her face is rather like traditional depictions of Buddha.
This is a fan-art of Mikako, a bubbly character from the manga "Gokinjo Monogatari" (Neighbourhood Story) by Yazawa Ai.  I did this back in high school as per request from a Japanese friend of mine who owned the manga.  I'm really proud of this sketch.

MY FUSIONS

Text: I never thought I could know a love like this.
Shall I fall to my knees and crawl on all fours to please you
so that you can make me purr and swim in sin?
Or would you like me to draw you a bath for us to soak in our decadence,
and let our tongues explore all those special places
that make you thread your fingers in my hair and hold on tight.
You’re everything that I’ll ever need and you bring out the best and baddest in me;
I’m the drug that has hooked you so, giving you the warmth you’ve sought for so long.
This secret smile is for the bright future that waits for us,
but in the meantime, how about that bath?
Or did you have something else in mind?

Text: I ached as I held you so tightly that I left marks on your skin.
I had feared to let go in case you were some dream
that would vanish with the approaching morning.
You’re like an incoherent illusion that I’ll never understand,
but please don’t leave until I have some clue as to the meaning of you.
Forgive these delusional ramblings of mine,
I’m just so frightened at the thought of losing you,
so I distract myself senselessly.
If only you’d hold me as tightly,
then perhaps I would not be so terrified that you don’t love me.

... this was originally made for my LJ blog layout.
