Evangelion Unit 3

The Evangelion Unit 3 was originally created to combat the Angels, but unfortunatly, it became one. The pilot for Unit 3 was Touji Suzuhara. It was constructed by the Americans, but because of the unusual circumstances surrounding the disappearance of Unit 4, the Americans asked Nerv Japan to conduct the testing of the unit. During transport to Japan, the Eva came into contact with a strange cloud that was believed to be the Angel that corrupted the Unit. During the initial start-up phase of the testing the Eva turned berzerk and immediately everyone thought that the Eva was a repeat of Unit 0000. After the power cord was removed it was realized that the unit was actually an Angel. Its name was changed to Bardiel, and it succeeded in defeating both Eva's 00 and Eva 02 and nearly destroying Eva 01 until Gendo ordered Unit 1s dummy plug activated. When this happened Eva-01 went completely berzerk and smashed Eva-03 into a stadium sized pile of metal, flesh, blood and bone. Touji was severly injured, and lost both an arm and a leg, although he was lucky compared to his Eva.

I modelled the Eva-03 back in September '99 because I had been contacted by a video game company and one of the videos they wanted me to do for testing involved the Eva-03, so I made it. Actually, I made Eva-04 first, and then I recolored the head and placed it on Eva-03, since Evas-03 and 04 have identical heads. The owner of a comic shop in my area told me that the model looks good, but the standing straight pose was too boring, so I made this picture look a little more dynamic. I think it's a pose that fits with the style of the Angel that Eva-03 becomes.
