Barenaked Ladies
The Barenaked Ladies have been a part of Canada's music scene since 1998. The Barenaked Ladies released a few independent cassettes before their breakthrough, self-titled album in 1991. This was the first independent release to reach the top 20 on national music charts and go platinum in Canada. In 1997, their live album "Rock Spectacle" was well received and their 1998 release of "Stunt" and the single, "One Week", received high acclaim from fans and the Canadian music industry. "Stunt" sold over two million copies and went double platinum in November 1998. By 2001, The Barenaked Ladies walked away with the best pop album of the year, best album of the year and best group category at the Juno Awards. They have become one of Canada's most well known bands simply by singing about a box of Kraft Dinner and fancy ketchups. Now who else could ever do that?
