Question & Answers
What would you say your band is about?
I would say that it's about getting what you really
want to get done in life done, no excuses. About speaking the truth to
everyone around you rather than settling for artificialness, trying to live
outside of the norm, thinking about ways to break all the boundaries you've set
up in your life, and once you establish new ones, break those too.
Most
importantly...not being afraid to be who I really am anymore...no matter what
the consequences.
What
is the origin of your band's name?
It came from Ernest Hemingway having shot himself with
a shotgun to the head. The Hemingway Solution tries to employ a
simple...'let's do it, or die trying' mentality.
What
inspired you to form your band?
Realizing this is what I need to do with my
life.
What
are your main influences for music?
Guns and Roses, The Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana,
Radiohead, U2, Oasis, Pearl Jam, Etc...
How
would you describe your sound?
Melodic rock.... Really soft to really loud, all
over the map in terms of rock genre's...cause all our influences are
so diverse.
What
qualities would you say distinguishes your band from the rest of the indie rock
scene here in Toronto?
I'd like to think that we're among the few Indie
bands who can write radio friendly music (music that connects to most
people rather than just a few).
What
are your songs about? Where do you get the inspiration for them?
My song's are about...what's happening in my life that
bugs me enough to make me want to pick up a guitar.
How
do your songs come together? Who is the songwriter of the group?
Everyone is a songwriter in their own rite in this
band.
Who
writes the lyrics?
Dave and I mainly do, but Ray and Pete help out all the time.
What
should the audience expect when they see the band live?
Crazy energy.......that's it really...really intense
vibes
What's
the hottest song you perform live? Why?
One day......it's loud, simple, and totally raw, and
it's really easy to play.
If
you could play with any musical artist, alive or dead, who would it be?
Hmm...maybe Jimi Hendrix, or Billy Corgan.... Jimi
Hendrix 'cause he was so fluid on guitar... He floored me with how free he
became when he played... He really found his sound...and showed it to
the world with an unparalleled ease, every time he played.
Billy Corgan because I can really relate to his
personality...he's a shy guy.....a pendulum at times...and likes to pull out of
the norm with new age twists on tried and tested ideas..
Who is your favorite local Indie band? Why?
I haven't really been checking out the local Indie
scene that much lately...I liked this one band...but I can't remember their
name.
What
do you do outside of the band?
I travel the auto shows working as a detailer on
occasion. Also work out a lot. And not much else as of this moment.
All my efforts go to the band right now.
Where do you see the band 5 years from now?
I'm not sure where we'll be. I'm just sure of where I want to be.
