Study
of the Art of Resurrection
By Lady Nadia Arcanus Inscriptus |
The art of healing is more
than a science, for science requires rigid laws and formula understood
best by mathematicians and their like. Healing, on the other hand, requires
adaptation of the principles to the situation, something that artists throughout
time have excelled at. Great healers are able to make the act of curing
even deadly poison seem almost effortless; extraordinary healers are said
to even be able to reanimate the dead. While reanimation may be a misleading
term, the best healers are able to somehow stabilize the wandering spirit
of the strong-willed and remanifest their corporeal body.
The study of resurrection must first observe what happens when one expires. The connection between the being's corporeal or physical essence and its astral counterpart is broken, leaving the body without the presence of life to sustain it. The mind of the subject now battles for control of its astral form, most humans of sufficient strength of character are able to take control of their astral counterpart and seek resurrection. When such a being attempts to manifest itself into the physical world, it creates a new bridge between the physical realm and astral space, projecting an image of itself that is simultaneously real and illusion, physical and ethereal. For a mage, this manifestation is all that is required to target the being and cast a resurrection spell. For the healer, this is only the beginning. The healer now must excel in his art, for the act of resurrection requires great faith within the healer, both in his believes and in his abilities. While some may believe that the power required for resurrection emanates from some higher power or religion, my studies have indicated that the power is actually innate to the healer. When resurrection is attempted, the healer assists the subject remanifest its corporeal body by providing the subject with additional astral power. In other words, the healer donates a part of his astral counterpart to the subject, allowing the subject to reshape and channel this energy through the bridge he has created to manifest himself to give his manifestation true physical form. It is still uncertain what effect repeated resurrections have on healer or subject, but no loss of health has been recorded to the healer from my records. It has been noted that after repeated resurrections, the subject will often appear to have adapted some of the personality traits of the healer, but it is more probable that this is the result of camaraderie as opposed to a side-effect of repeated resurrection. |
