Princess
Leah vs Her Evil Twin
-An Excerpt from Codex: Lothar |
The
lord of our order, Aeolus, summoned me to Yew that morning. He opened a
portal for me to walk through, and seeing the other side I knew what it
meant. I could see the top of Yew bank, which indicated he wanted a private
audience with me.
"How are things my fooly fool friend?" I asked him. "Something is terribly wrong," he says. "What is it? Crackhead? Raucious Rob at it again? Maybe Morte is complaining too much?" "No. It's your wife." "My wife? What's wrong with the Princess?" "Well, uhh, there's two of them." He then goes on about how he was in the bank and met 2 women, both claiming to be my wife. They were identical, in all aspects. They spoke at the same time. They both seemed to know him and me. Recalling the past few days’ events, I do recall hearing that a Princess Leah was causing mischief in the town, including one man who was murdered by her. I denied that this was my wife, as she may be a fierce warrior, but a good heart and besides we spent the last several weeks in intense training at my house. With little or no time to cause that kind of havoc. "I shall resolve this at once." I told Aeolus, still quite confused about this morning's events. I assumed that with his extensive arcane knowledge that he would be able to figure out what was going on, but he explains that this is not the product of any worldly magic. He was wise in not killing either woman, as one of them was my true wife and he would not risk losing her. With that, I returned home. When I got there I encountered a most bizarre scene. Indeed, the two women Aeolus spoke of were before me. They were both dressed in our guild colors, I noticed my servant's quality on the dresses. They had the same weapon of choice, the kryss, and the battle between raged on before me. They were fighting to the death, both women snarling and yelling curses at each other. Each one beckoned me to help her. I could not, I was frozen with shock. From the looks of it, I could tell one was far superior in her skill. In fact, it was she who won the fight, hitting her opponent with such deadly speed and accuracy. The other woman lay dying from her wounds. "I hope you all burn! I will………" were her last words before her eyes glazed with death and her head hit my doorstep with a solid thump. Just then, the other woman grabbed me by the arm and yelled at me, "You idiot! Why didn't you help me?" "The only way I could tell who was who," I explained, "is by skill. Your training would shine through her rough talent, and it did." "You bet my life on your own training! How vain. What if the evil Leah was still better than me?" Of course I had a lot of talking to do, and eventually she calmed down. I am pretty sure now my real wife won, since she bore slashing knife marks on her arms from training with me, but I may never know for sure…. |
