Andante Accelerando
She hears her prey in rhythms and cadences: the in-out of its breath, the thuh-thum of its heart. Like a little orchestra, playing just for her.
She'd eaten a violinist once because he'd created such beautiful patterns in his music. But then when she'd drawn bow across strings, all that emerged was an ugly screech. Angry, she'd smashed the violin and left it next to the drained musician.
This is the best part: the quickening breath, the racing heart….
The scream.
Afterwards, she frowns into the silence. The concert is over.
But it is early yet. She'll just find another.
