Although the movie Xanadu was not a huge hit, it's soundtrack was.
With the combined talents of the movies star, Olivia Newton-John and the Electric Light Orchestra, a fusion rock band of operatic depth & one of the most innovative groups of the seventies and eighties. The Xanadu soundtrack crackles with electric guitar rythmns as well as boogie woogie songs straight out of the 40's.
Although Olivia sings the majority of the songs (and rightly so) there are also wonderful numbers with the Tubes, Cliff Richards and Gene Kelly.
It's title song became one of Olivia's biggest songs and a signature piece for the wonder from down under. |
