EXT. FERRIS WHEEL - NIGHT

We shoot over their back, as they ride the Ferris wheel.

SONNY
I passed by this street a couple of days ago,
I swear it was just a vacant lot.

KIRA
This is the way things can happen.  Something
emerges out of nothing.  One person comes by
and sees a vacant lot, somebody else comes
by and sees a carnival.

EXT. CARNIVAL - IMMEDIATELY AFTER

They're walking through the carnival, they pass a
girl, walking in the opposite direction.

KIRA'S POINT OF VIEW

The girl in a muse outfit.
Kira and the girl exchange glances.

Kira takes out a packet and hands it to Sonny.

SONNY
What's this?

KIRA
A painting.  Open it.

68-A-4

Sonny opens the packet.
It's a picture of Luna Park.

SONNY
Hey... Great.

KIRA
It was called Luna Park.  It was one of the most
beautiful places ever.

SONNY
Where was it?

KIRA
Coney Island.  Walking into Luna Park was like
walking into a fantasy.  When the whole park was
lit up, and there was this dazzling brightness, it
was like a million lights shining.

SONNY
A million lights shining?  You sound like you were
there counting 'em.

KIRA
Oh, no... but I heard a lot about it.

SONNY
What happened to it?

KIRA
Oh... It was terrible.  It burned down.
Right to the ground.

SONNY
And nobody rebuilt it?

KIRA
No.  Seems like such a waste, doesn't it?

SONNY
Yeah.

KIRA
Isn't it a shame, the things that people miss...

SONNY
People...

KIRA
Um.  Yes.  People.

SONNY
But nobody here's pointing a finger anybody.

KIRA
Oh, no.
(grins)
Nobody here would do a thing like that.

SONNY
Right.  Nobody here's pointing a finger at people who
use words like dump... and garbage...
(grins)
...Okay, Okay, I get the idea.  So you really think that
place of yours could work for Danny?

KIRA
I think that place could work out to be whatever you
wanted it to be.  Your friend has a dream, and you 
want to be involved in something you care about.
Maybe his dream is big enough for the two of you.
(smiles)
