note--I’ve taken Dwayne’s stats for this sword and modified them only in removing references to SDC/MDC to allow GMs more freedom as to what kind of campaign they are running.
Sword of Coldest Black
This sword has a hilt of white gold and a blade of obsidian. The hilt glows with a soft white light and is warm to the touch. The blade is totally black and seems to absorb light, and is freezing cold to the touch (1D8 damage for just touching the blade.)
The sword does 1D10 x 5 damage and double damage to heat using creatures, but only ˝ damage to cold using/based creatures.
The sword severs on a natural roll of 17-20. When unsheathed the sword lowers the temperature of the air at a rate of 2 degrees per hour, affecting a 20’ x 20’ radius.
Obsidian chips easily and the blade has a 15% chance of chipping each time it strikes anything. Any time the blade is chipped, the natural roll needed to sever goes up by one. For every five chips the blade has, it incurs a cumulative –1 penalty to hit. The sword blade can regenerate the chips by being sheathed for one continuous hour.
The sword has six primary powers that can each be used once per day.
