Death Temple (Middle Terrace)

The Death Temple is one of the eight Temples of the city. Members of the faith of Death will recall here.

The requirements on the Temples are relatively few, since the hierarchy and culture of each religion has not been decided yet. For building purposes, you can make it as specific or vague as you like. Eventually it will be made more specific, but if you come up with good ideas, it's likely that they will be made 'official'. The current idea is that the religion of Death views the process of death as a sacred part of nature and generally not to be contributed to directly. None are more aggressive against the undead than this faith though; even the Life Temple does not hunt the undead with such ferocity. Courage is not a rare trait among worshippers of Death. It is rumored that there is corruption within the faith though, including at the highest levels, where death is a power to be used and manipulated. What this could mean to the Temple's followers remains to be seen...

Each Temple will include at least a shrine (a place for worship), a donation pit, a meeting room, and a healing room. One thing that is planned is for a "levelling area" to be available from each of the eight temples; a graveyard is the most obvious place, although a subterranean crypt or catacombs would certainly be appropriate as well. The initial recommendation is for mobs of Death to range from level 20-40, although Rick is coding mobs to be easy to adjust later.

The Temple is located at the southwest corner of the Middle Terrace. The building structure and layout are up to you; a burial-mound/catacombs location within a dark wooden grove would be excellent (plenty of room for mazes and hidden glens in the woods), as would a large obelisk-like structure, designed to guide spirits to the afterlife (or to oblivion...). The Death Temple grounds are bordered on the north and east by the Westwall District, and on the west and south by the Terrace Wall.

Finally, the use of color is to be limited by builders, but color schemes for the Temples are encouraged. If you do use a color scheme, do so sparingly -- a little color can go a long way.
