The Dockside area is the part of the city at which the main docks for seabound vessels may be found. Goods of all kinds travel through this part of town... but it is also home to many sailors, bums, and lowlifes. As such, this is the "bad side of town", where one must tread carefully. Taverns and inns abound here, and a few shops do business in this part of the city as well, but the Low Terrace belongs to the lower class, and the lowest of them dwell in this part of the city. It is the northeastern quadrant of the city, and to the west, the main road leads from the docks toward Corsa Square.
The area's main features include: the docks at the far east of the area; the city wall and gate, which isolate the docks from the rest of the city in the event of an attack; Peruden Road, which is a straight and wide road leading from the Dockside gates directly to the center of Corsa Square; and the slums and tenements within the walls. North of the area is the Terrace wall, and south of the area is the Riverside district (which may or may not be linked).
The docks themselves are quite impressive; the port city can accommodate over a hundred vessels. A shipwright ought to do good business here as well; one interesting area to explore might be a partially completed ship, although this is purely a suggestion. We may put in a docked galleon to be explored as well, but it would be built as a separate area. Also, on the north end of the docks, there will eventually be a way to continue up the shoreline to reach a cavern area, but this is another project to be completed in the future. :)
Buildings in this area will be made from wood, and will generally be run-down. Most of the people will have tolerable living conditions, but not all; there ought to be some homeless folk and people living in decrepit shanties in the dockside neighborhood. The rooftops will be mostly flat or at a slight grade; very few steep roofs. (This is done to accommodate another potential area project... :) Alleys and back roads between the houses and buildings ought to be abundant here; collaborate with Aliera to determine how many additional paths to the Corsa neighborhoods there should be. There will also be a sewer area beneath these slums; there will likely be easy access to the sewers from the Dockside as well.
