The Fire Temple is one of the eight Temples of the city. Members of the faith of Fire will recall here, and anyone seeking the blessings of Fire can come here for aid (for a small donation, of course).
The requirements on the Temples are relatively few, since the hierarchy and culture of each religion has not been decided yet (or really thought on!). For building purposes, you can make it as specific or vague as you like. Eventually it will be made more specific, but if you come up with good ideas, it's likely that they will be made 'official'. Each Temple will include at least a shrine (a place for worship), a donation pit, a meeting room, and a healing room. One thing that is planned is for a "levelling area" to be available from each of the eight temples; ideas for the Fire Temple might be an underground cavern of some kind, or a hall of fire of some kind. That will be mostly left to you to decide. The initial recommendation is for mobs of Fire to range from level 15-25, although Rick is coding mobs to be easy to adjust later. The Temple is located at the northwest corner of the Low Terrace, at a wide flat lot clear of any debris. The northern side of the lot ends at the Terrace wall, and the western side ends at the wall of the city. To the south and east are found residences of the Gateside District; you will have to collaborate with the builder of that area to build these areas properly. It may be easiest to have a wall surrounding the Temple Lot (no firewall jokes, please). The building is likely constructed from marble or stone, which would be able to withstand the heat. Gouts of flame rush up from large torches (similar to the Olympic torch, although that shouldn't be used in the description!), and the air shimmers from the heat. There is very little smoke though, and when there is smoke it is very intentional and symbolic -- smoke should be used for special ceremonies only. The internal structure and layout of the Temple is left to the builder.
With each temple, we'd like to see heavy use of a color scheme related to the type of temple. For Fire, reds and bright reds should be used, although sparingly. Like with a spice, it doesn't take much color to have good effect! The entire building should be a work of art, from cornerstone to spire.
Finally, with the Temple of Fire, we think it would be very interesting to make it also serve as the Temple of Love. This will require a great deal of discretion, so please keep the scantily-clad Love Priestesses to a minimum! If this aspect of the Fire Temple is done with the right degree of maturity and tact, the Fire Temple has the potential to be one of the most fascinating and memorable areas of the game to visit.
