The Empty Cross

tear drops on the chaple floor
stain the wood around the door.
blood and sweat stain the cross
at the place of God's biggest loss.
He forfieted His Son's life
so He took our place in His sacrifice
To His last breath he proclaimed
His almighty Father's holy name.
"Forgive them, they know not what they do."
but i beg Father, that you forgive me too.

He died for me while i was unworthy.
He suffered to save my unclean soul
He shed His precious blood to hide my sin.
and He has made me whole.

they pierced the feet and hands
of God's holy sacrificial lamb.
and now my hands i lift in praise
that i may follow you all of my days.
i look up and see the cross now empty,
a painful reminder that he died for me.
with my sin i drove those nails
while my Savior's life is veiled.
with a mocking crown of thors in His sacred head
can it be my Lord is dead?

He died for me while i was unworthy.
He suffered to save my unclean soul
He shed His precious blood to hide my sin.
and He has made me whole.

for my sin my Jesus hung in pain,
for my life He was beaten and slain.
He gave up His life that i might live
so to Him, my life i humbly give.
because through His death He is not gone.
He rose again and He lives on.
Jesus saved all of God's children from Hell,
He is with us, our Lord Emmanuel.
the Spirit now reigns within us
So in God we proudly trust.

He died for me while i was unworthy.
He suffered to save my unclean soul
He shed His precious blood to hide my sin.
and He has made me whole.

the tear drops of sorrow on that hill
that were shed the day He hung still
have been transformed to tears of love
as His spirit descends to us from above.
tears of joy fall from my eyes
as His thunder rolls through the skies.
the cross stands alone solemnly
as His glory shines around that horrid tree.
through my tears i stopped and smiled
as i remembered that i'm God's child.
