The best place to run a speed test is at DSLreports Speed Test. It will run 3 fast accurate tests of your upload and download all at once. You might also want to try it at Speakeasy, since it is closest to Xbox Live headquarters... Want to speed up your connection, or try and lower your PING? I recommend that first you run the Tweak Tester II at DSLreports.com. It will pinpoint any problems, and also recommend suggestions on how to fix it. It may ask you to download the DRTCP which is a great tool in helping your connection. There are only a few things I can tell you about DRTCP, because I'm not an expert. There are no hidden trackers, password sniffers, or spyware involved. I personally was running at 400-500 KB download, and 200-300 KB upload. After using the DRTCP I now run around 2200-2400 KB download, and 200-300 KB upload. After running the tweak test, if it suggests downloading DRTCP then go right ahead. If not, then don't. Look at your transfer rate percentage on the third column down on the bottom. Look under notes and recommendation on the first column. If you need DRTCP, it will tell you a range in which to set your RWIN or TCP recieve window. I recommend starting it at the highest whole number. Then decrease that number by 1000, until your transfer rate percentage get's to 100%. Now remember, each time you adjust the TCP recieve window, you have to reboot in order for the setting to take effect. After each reboot, you must run the tweak test until you get desired results. Here is an image of the DRTCP program below:
I recommend leave all that is blank, everything esle on default, and just enter your range in the TCP recieve window. Besure to select your adapter settings. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask in the DSLreport Forums... -Redkaven Kinkeui |
