THE STORY: The story starts out with masterchief being defrosted by orders from the captain because thier ship the "The Pillar Of Autumn" is under attack by the covienant. You try and save the ship, but you just don't quite have enough time, the people of the ship ends up bailing out in life pods and that land on the gaint atmosphereic ring called HALO. So your first mission starts out finding and rescuing the rest of your soldiers and civilains.
You spend the rest of your missions battling the covienant trying to rescue your captain, stopping the covienant from taking over halo and using it as a weapon, destroying the flood (which is a lethal intelligent mutanting parasitic virus that was released by the covienant in the halo), stoping the halo flood defense system from destroying not only the flood, but everyone in the galaxsy. The overall story is great and really draws you in. You'll forget all about the real world when you play this game.
FEATURES: The game is loaded with features. You have a CAMPAIGN mode that allows just you to play against the CU. You also got a CO-OP mode that allows you to play 2 players at a time on one xbox against the CU trying to complete missions and all the stuff you see in campaign mode is there in the co-op mode. So when using 2 players in co-op to complete missions, your not missing anything that you would've seen or done in the campaign mode. In campiagn mode and co-op mode, you have 4 levels of difficulty that seem very balanced. Easy, normal, heroic, and legendary which most poeple cannot beat on thier own unless they have a friend to help them out in co-op mode.
The game has an fun as hell, on the edge of your seat multi-player mode. You start with several types of games to choose from. You have capture the flag, a reverse version of capture the flag where you carry your flag to the opponents base, slayer, oddball, king of the kill, race where you race the warthogs, and there is just so many more to choose from. In addiation you can create as many custom multi-player games as you like with all the custom setting you can think of and then some.
The game also has system link play with up to 4 xbox's and 16 players in multi-player mode. You can even use xbconnect to link up the xboxs online for some multi-player combat. This really takes the games fun level to an another level in it's own.
GAMEPLAY: The games controls are real responsive and on point. You use the left stick to move around and squat by pressing it down, and you aim with the right stick or zoom in by pressing it down when using the pistol, sniper rifle, or rocket luancher. This is great from running sideways while trying to toss grenades or blast your opponent. Driving the vechiles take a little getting used too, but once you get it down you can create some havoc!
Even though the game runs at 30 frame per second, the game runs very smoothly. Because it does run at 30 fps you have "MASSIVE" enviroments to run around and blow shit up in. The weapons in the game have a nice balance through a wide varity. The are also a nice varity of vechiles that can be used in completeting the missions.
You'll also notice when playing is the fact that the covienant, which is an alien race speak english. You'll hear several things like "there everywhere", "over here...", "watch out!", "ruuunn...!". One of my favorite covienant saying is when you stick a plasma grenade to a jackel, he'll run around in circles saying "nooooo hoo ho ho..." Even your own soldiers say a few words, and boy is it a trip to hear them talk shit. You'll hear things like "get up so I can kill you again", "hey, he was mine", and when your sniping those little aliens they'll whisper "nice shot...". One of my favorites is when a jackel or something blasts a marine, then the marine kills it, he'll run over to it and shoot it again saying "you bastard! DIE!".
INGENUITY: You won't be playing this game thinking it's your typical shooter. While it may be in first perpective, it converts to third persepctive when driving vechiles. Yes, you can drive vechiles like the warthog(jeep), the ghost(small hovercraft), tank (military style), and the banshee(singular plane). What makes it even better, is that 3 poeple can jump on the warthog all at once. One guy can dive, while the second guy runs the gunner with infinite ammo on the back of the jeep, and the third guy can ride in the passenger side and shoot at folks, or do what I do and use a rocket luancher to take them out. On the tank, 4 people can fit on each side of the tank and shoot. In multi-player things like this make the game so much more fun!
The sound of the game is a noche above the rest. Beautiful music that doesn't become annoying after awhile, or off tympo from what's going on in the game at the time. Bungie put a little extra effort in to the 5.1 surround sound, and truly sounds like our in the mix (assuming you have 5.1 setup). The music of the game is now for sell due to popular demand on a soundtrack.
LASTING APPEAL: While in the beginning when you first buy the game and are new at playing it, the levels can take you 2-5 hours to complete. After you get the hang of it though, you'll be running through each level in 30 min.-2 hours, but then you can always jack up the difficulty. You can play the campaign mode for about 1-3 months before even getting tiresome from it.
The multi-player mode is off the charts in my book. It's been a year later since I've had the game and I still play the hell of the multi-player mode. I use xbconnect to get my xbox online, so there is always people I can blow the hell up.

SCORE SUMMARY: The graphics on halo are great although the color seem a bit dull or cartoony at times. However, the game textures are some of the best, if not the best. It has range textures, which you see different patterns up close, mid range, and far away that all blend together seamlessly.
I gave everything esle a 10 except for control. Simpily because when moving, you float around a bit, and the vechiles take a little bit of a learning curve.
PROS: This game is one of the few that really makes you feel like your playing a next-generation console game. It really sets the standard for a hell of a fist person shooter.
CONS: Er...., I'll have to get back to ya on that one...
NOTE: Just as a side note, I am a poor writer and speller. I'm probaly not the best choice for writing reviews, although I'm good at reviewing games. However, I felt I had to at least write a review to set an example for the format of our reviews in the future.
