LETTERS FROM BRITNEY´S MOM

9/23/99 I couldn't wait for Thursday to come! That was the day after Brit's last concert. Britney had planned for the two of us to go to the Bahamas. We were worried we would miss our trip because of the hurricane. Well, we were right. It turned out to be NOT the place to go for fun in the sun. We re-routed our trip to Cancun. We were so glad we did. I drove to New Orleans Airport to meet Brit and Felicia, Britney's assistant. Fee went home to Mississippi and Britney and I waited for our flight out. I finished a book I'd been reading while Britney slept with her head on my lap. It was finally time to board. The flight was great and we arrived early. There was a car to meet us and we left for the hotel. The ride to the hotel was only 15 minutes and it was our first time to see the beautiful palms and greenery there. The hotel was beautiful. Our room over-looked the ocean on one side and the pools and luscious landscaping on the other. We settled in and left for dinner. We ate a light dinner and came back to the hotel to rest. The next day we woke early and had breakfast in the room. Before 10:00am, we were at the beach. It was wonderful having nothing to do except what we wanted to do. We stayed in the sun until 2 o'clock that afternoon. We got the best tan. Brit was a little red on the face but it felt so good to just lay there. When we came in, we realized how tired we were.We slept until 6 o'clock that evening. Brit suggested we eat at the Rain Forrest. It was great! The atmosphere there is fantastic. I couldn't see too well in the restaurant because of the dim lights. I mistook peppers for green beans. The next day I realized what I'd done when my stomach was hurting. Brit won't let me live that one down. We stayed until Sunday, the 19th. The trip was too short. I hated for it to end. As usual Brit and I get teary-eyed every time we have to part. We try to talk about when we'll be together again. Oh well, I guess that's the way it will be for a while. Britney left for New York to begin working on her new album and I left for home. My second graders were waiting for me bright and early Monday morning. Brit and I had fun shopping, basking in the sun and just being together with no interruptions. - Lynne
 
 

8/04/99 The whole family spent the weekend with Britney in Los Angeles.We had another great weekend! We were all very excited because this was also the weekend that Jive, Brit's record company, had planned to have her 5x platium party. After her concert at Universal Amphitheater, which was great, we went to the party. There were sooo many people there. Of course, we knew only a few there. There were several stars and celebrities. One special star was there-Ben Affleck!! Needless to say, my daughter was pleased. Ben is a very down to earth guy. He talked with Brit's brother Bryan and invited him to a barbecue the following day. But the next day was already fully planned to the minute. There was a practice for the Teen Choice Awards that morning. That evening Brit and the other hosts and acts had a complete run through of the show. Everyone then took a break, ate, rested or did whatever they needed to do until time to get dressed for the show. Before the show, all the stars are asked to walk the red carpet while publicity asked them various questions. I walked with Brit and they took quite a few mother-daughter pictures. It was quite an ordeal for me. I left the red carpet shaking! Finally, it was time for the show. Brit opened the show with a greeting and a few words welcoming everyone. Following the show, there was a party for the celebrities and their guest. We all decided to go back to the hotel and watch t.v. All of us were tired and JamieLynn was sick with a terrible virus. She almost lost her lunch on the red carpet. Wouldn't that have been a memorable event! All good things must come to an end and this trip, like all the others, was just too short. The next morning we all sadly said goodbye, I cried, and then we caught our flight home. Britney had an MTV show to shoot the day we left and then she was off to the next venue. Although I cried when I left Brit, it won't be so bad this week because she's coming to New Orleans this coming weekend. So, bye until then! Lynne
 

8/01/99 JamieLynn and I went to the Bahamas with Britney. We had a full day off. We soaked up the sun. We rode in the waverunners and also had a tour of the island in a boat. The food was great and we ate too much. The Atlantis is the most beautiful hotel. All the different fish ponds were amazing. The only thing wrong with that trip was the fact that we had to leave too soon! Next, we went to Canada. We were told it was still cool there. Well, they were wrong - it was very warm. We'd brought all the wrong clothes for this trip. We still had fun. Britney had a concert in Winnipeg the first night. It was a great crowd but we had to leave immediately after because we had an eight hour drive to the next venue. We slept on the bus for the first time. It was really alot of fun. Britney's dancers and crew are all so much fun. We reached Saskaton early in the morning. Although the bus is comfortable, it was great to crawl into the hotel bed. Britney, Jamie Lynn and I went shopping when we woke that morning. The show was another sell-out with lots of enthusiastic fans. We all flew to Edmonton the next day in a private jet. FUN! JamieLynn and I had to go home this day, also. Brit got in her van and we got in our car. JamieLynn cried all the way to the airport. Brit and JamieLynn are very close. It was a week long trip but it seemed like only three days.
