Multiplicity
Multiplicity, also known as Pluralism, soulbonding, walk-ins, and many other terms, is a relatively unknown facet of the otherkin world. This phenomenon manifests itself in many forms, and is well known to the psychological community, but almost universally considered a mental disorder. It can be the result of traumatic events, and sometimes may be negative, but this is the exception, not the rule.
What I speak of is by psychologists poorly lumped into Multiple Personality Disorder or Dissociative Personality Disorder. Some people are born with multiple consciousnesses in one body, some develop them in childhood. In many cases there are two distinct souls with independant memories, who share a single body, this is effectively a willing and symbiotic rather than parasitic version of demonic possession, and the application of the term walk-in or soulbond.
There are many subclasses and very rarely are two cases truely the same. Almost everyone develops different mindsets for different circumstances, after all one cannot behave the same way say at work as at home with family. Some take this a step further and have completely and individualized personas for these circumstances, aspected personalities.
Because I cannot speak with authority on anything other than my personal experiences and those of my mate, I will include links to outside resources, as for those personal experiences, they are as follows.
I am an example of an aspected personality. Most who have known me for any length of time have seen some example of this, whether they recognized it or not. Several of my close friends are aware of this phenomenon for what it is. I am capable of completely altering my personality.
Everything we experience determines how we view the world around us, and I am able to consciously suspend the effects of some experiences in favor of others. One of these personality aspects, a feminine persona, has an adopted name and a seperate account online. I am Raven White, or white_raven_omens. I am writing this section of the page as an example. The difference is not immediately obvious except in conversation, my reactions then are different. Nonetheless, there is an obvious psychic difference to those sensitive to it, and a slight change in my way of speaking. I am the culmination of all the negative and traumatic experiences of this soul, and therefore incapable of emotional injury, and without restraint or remorse as far as protecting myself and others, or doing what needs to be done.
My mate, Fox, is a perfect example of another kind of multiple. She was born as a 'singlet' and encountered a spirit when she was a child, a kind of demon to be specific. His name is Daemon LaTreece, and the two of them share one body. I am writing this article primarily to explain this phenomenon enough that Daemon can actively participate in this community without hiding what he is.
