The
LR 10 represents a fresh, no-nonsense approach to the claw thin-line
semi acoustic. It's specially designed neck combines maple and mahogany
for added warmth and sustain. Custom pickups provide the bite and clarity
desired by semi-acoustic players. The unique foam-filled side chambers
prevent feedback while allowing the acoustic- character of the instrument
to ring true. TJK LR 10 refines the semi-acoustic and gives it the soul
and fire it deserves.

The Ibanez semi acoustic guitar (LR prototype) shaped after the Gibson ES-335 was originally build for Lee Ritenour as a one off non production model for Lee to try out and see what changes he would like to make before Ibanez puts it on as a full factory production model to be named as LR-10. If you were to compare the two guitars you'll see that there were changes made to the headstock, fretboard markers and also the two f sound holes were filled with foam to prevent feedback. Later LR-10 models were produced with stock Ibanez Floyd Rose type locking tremolos. For unknown reasons, Lee Rit choose not keep the prototype and was returned to Ibanez. Rex Goh, who was touring with Air Supply as their lead guitarist at that time (circa 1982/83) was approached by Ibanez to be signed as an endorsee. The Ibanez Artistes Relations Manager showed Rex the LR10 prototype together with a couple of other Ibanez electrics, asked his views on them and then presented him with the LR10 prototype which Rex subsequently used on a number of television shows including on Solid Gold, a US weekly top 10 hits music programme, as well as a live performance of "Sweet Dreams" with Air Supply in Sydney for the 1983 American Music Awards. Rex signed as an Ibanez endorsee for a couple of years from the early to mid 1980's and was seen using various Ibanez blazers and artists guitars, including a small body semi-acoustics made specially for him. |
