mr. chaaran (the spy) and my puter

last week i was trying to make cds from my audio tape casettes by feeding it into the tv tuner. and as there is no provision for just audio recording in the tv tuner card i was putting in some video as well for other wise the space is going to be wasted. initially the recording went on well but after some time there started all sorts of warning messages - the audio jack is in the wrong hole and such - and later it became impossible to record - the warning this time was that there was a hard ware problem. i reinstalled the card again and it worked - to conk off again after starting normally. so the problem was with the driver and probably that was being corrupted. the remedy was to reinstall the driver and i could carry on with the work once again that way - of course till the next interception!

now how is the india government bothered if i record some music from the fm radio or from my cable tv? i have no idea; if you want to know ask shri. chaaran (mr. spy)

incidentally this machine which has winxp is not networked and i dont use it to access the net. again it has a brand new original intel 865 gbf main board and i am facing problems inspite of all this. i have got another machine which is exclusively used for accessing the net for my impression is that it is less easier to take over than the xp system. i dont know how far it is right - just guess work!

mr. chaaran (the spy) and the ide to usb connector

i mentioned about my cdrom and hdd and such ide devices disappearing while in use. using a usb to ide connector did help. the cd rom or even hdd connected via the usb using this special connector which has a separate power supply was recognized and was working fine for some time. but now shriman chaaran (mr. spy) has found a way out and even that is being immobilised. the device when connected to the usb port is recognized. but once i start writing a cd/dvd the drive disappears and the process stops. i lost a few blank dvds and a lot of cds that way and have stopped using this connector now.

i tried the trick of reinstalling the driver as in the case of the tv tuner card. once the ide drives disappeared i reinstalled the inf files and lo and behold the drive appears again! i have these drivers loaded on to my hard disk now and directly install from there and carry on with my work - till it holds. when storage device disappears repeat the driver installation and start off again!

remember, this pc is my personal property and i am doing my work inside my own though rented house. why should any body bother? and what do you gain by that? and the govt of india pays you for doing it!

mr. chaaran (the spy) and my Win XP desktop

one of the real charms of the winxp is that the administrator has immense powers and some one who can take over the pc as administrator can cause havoc. i have catered for that eventuality. earlier i had pictures of shriman chaaran (mr. spy)'s "girl friends" as well as specific messages meant for him. but now a days kind courtesy my a400 ( some thing like ak47) i have been "shooting" "action" movies and it is available on the hard drive for any one who access my puter - by breaking in or via wireless or whatsoever. you want to watch it? ask the chaaran; he can provide you a copy.
incidentally the dealers gracefully replaced the hacked memory card. i have gone for a 256mb card for they did not have 128mb and paid the difference.

a couple of days back my winXp desk top rotated to the right and started appearing in the lying position extending from left to right. in this position it is impossible to use it at all. what do you do? turn the monitor on to its left side and carry on!

i was running around in circles and ultimately i found a way out on my own. the good old panacea - install the vga driver ( it is an intel 865 gbf mother board) and reboot and the screen turns back to the normal position but the problem was that on the next boot up it goes back to the tilted condition. so every time i shut up / reboot the machine, i was reinstalling the vga driver so as to avoid this phenomenon.

i later found out, kind courtesy the service section of logtech, that there is a provision in the vga card to rotate the screen and now that i know it, it is a very simple thing.

possible; but not probable

the above is a typical situation that i am facing. you can always claim that i could have accidentally pressed the key combination. it is a theoretical possibility i agree. you are an expert statistician, no? now what are the chances of all the three keys being pressed together (at the same time) accidentally? and how come it never happened not even once all this one year i was using this particular mother board?
