my telephone answering machine is a bit too sophisticated for indian conditions and as usual the gestapo does not like my using any modern gadgets.
if i connect the advanced digital answering machine (ADAM) to my home telephone line the machine will be inactivated. i found a way out - do not connect a telephone in series with the machine. some how or other ADAM on its own is not deactivated. so what next.
well, the apes are at it. the machine has got a remote access facility. and all sorts of funny things happen once i leave it connected to the telephone line. and in the movie over here you find an interesting example.
one can set the number of rings after which the answering machine takes over the call and as per the company's manual it is from 2 to nine rings. what you find in the movie above is that the number of rings has been set to 22. this happened overnight. now if i try to set it to 22 the machine wont accept it and i am not aware of any means by which it can be manipulated to 22 rings. so the machine obviously has been tampered with.
the out going message on the machine taking the call can be the default "leave your message after the beep" or user defined. here i have set a message of my own and it has been trunkated.
there is nothing much in these things. any ape who has got administrator level access to the computer system in the telephone exchange can do it. but what do you gain by doing it? well you cannot exactly blame them.
now suppose the gestapo or his pimp is tapping my phone. imagine me setting the incoming message duration to any thing between 30 seconds to three minutes and me making a long call to my home telephone from the outside. obviously the pimp/pig will get the message. and these messages of mine are not very "pleasent" to listen to. it is not just like that they want to do this thing and that thing to me in the lock up!
