a "positive" development

now a days i am able to get on to the net at will; the access is not being denied. (could it be that saner counsel has prevailed over the tvm telecom?) but that does not mean that there is no hindrance.

none of the pages can be stored for offline viewing. every time i have to access a web page it has to come from the server - obviously the chaaran's proxy server - and that means i have to spend more than double the time normally required on the net, there by wasting time and money. any way i dont have to go to a kiosk to make a pretext of accessing the net and that is a positive development. well, i dont think it can be called a positive development; rather the negative aspect has been annulled to a certain extent.

the spy rings up palghat

i have given one of my telephone instruments ( this one has caller id and hands off facility) for testing to the company because of repeated (supposed to be) malfunctions. the company representative here has sent it to palghat where their head quarters is.

and you know what? shriman chaaran urf mr. spy has telephoned the factory - to enquire about the welfare of my telephone! see how much interest mr. chaaran is taking in even the smallest or rather most insignificant of matters concerning me! why is mr.chaaran urf mr. spy concerned with the welfare of my telephone ?

the spy net work is using a govt telephone. the common man will foot the bill. but that is not the case with some of his stooges. they have to pay the bill and if it is an international call the sum can be quite high! and that is the crux of the matter.

the provocation

what do you do when you get a telephone call from some one whom you dont want to talk to ? not attending is no solution; the fellow can go on ringing and it can become a nuisance. here is what i did. use the hands off facility - press the button and immediately press again. the call is connected and disconnected before a single word is spoken. the caller has to pay and if it is an international call it will not be a very small sum and he will think twice before ringing up again.

this happened a number of times with this new recruit. probably the pimp complained to mr. chaaran. the result was that when this chap telephoned the next time and i tried my old trick again the microphone will not get switched off. i had to pull out the cable from the instrument as a last resort. after a few minutes i re-connected the instrument -"hell-o, hell-o!" the pimp was on line still probably having a chat with his boss. i removed the cable again and that was the end of the story as far as i am concerned.

it was after the above incident that i took the telephone a second time to the repairer, this time to the company itself to rule out any malfunction of the instrument. from trivandrum they have sent it to the company's hq in palghat as they did not have any testing facility here. i understand that the charan has been telephoning the company about this phone! people here were asking me if i had telephoned palghat and was i a policeman from cbi!

incidentally i noticed that my telephone went dead on the evening of the first of this month; it was an inside job and once i registered a the complaint the line was connected again and the their chap called my house. i did not attend the phone and so he had to come to my house to clear the complaint. he made a call from his cellphone to my phone from within my house and when he tried to disconnect my phone it will not get disconnected. his explanation was that it was because he has not switched off his cell phone from which he made the call.

is that so with your telephone?
after you receive a call and finish the conversation and replace the handset you cannot make a call from your phone till the one who called you disconnects?

the fact of the matter is that the problem of the microphone being switched on on its own was there earlier as well. that time i did talk to one of the staff in the telephone exchange over here and she suggested that there could be some problem with the phone. so i took it to the service agents of the company here and they tried it on their phone line and the instrument was working fine! and once i brought it back there was no problem when the instrument was connected to my phone line as well.

after the incident with the spy's new pimp i took the instrument to the company's office here and they had sent it to their head quarters in palghat. the charan was desperate and was making calls to the company and throwing his weight about lest it comes back saying that there is no problem with it!
